Ivan will get his butt kicked, if he engages IS inside towns and villages. At night, it will be even more difficult for the Russians. IS will have plenty of egress options, when it chooses to engage the Russians. IS will not venture out into the open plains.

Russia will never release the truth behind the fatal airliner accident.

The irony is, there's a 99.999999% chance the missile used was made by Ivan.

Why would you think that? If it's ISIS, chances are the arms are American or Swedish.

No way it was a MANPAD. As stated earlier, she was at FL 310 and no MANPAD reaches that high. I can vouch for that because we outclimbed an SA-16 (next generation from SA-7) fired at us at 12,000' in Desert Storm. Missile died at about 15,000'.

    RIP all those onboard.

The photos so far appear to show the wreckage is over a large area which tends to indicate an in flight breakup before impact (the reports are that there a 2 major pieces of wreckage).

Black boxes have been recovered, so they should be able to find the cause.

So, who has the black boxes? Russia, Egypt, or France?

Even though its a Russian plane, doesn't Airbus send it's inspectors to the crash and investigate? I'm sure the Russian authorities have investigative jurisdiction but can they stiff arm Airbus and keep them away?

Last I heard, Egypt had the boxes. Airbus will have a "go-team" ready to respond if called upon by the investigating authority (very likely). Yes, they can be blocked out, though. I believe Egypt has jurisdiction for the investigation since the plane went down in Egypt, but I could be wrong. Russia will certainly be a "party" to the investigation, though.

Just read that Russia has the CVR and FDR. (FWIW... not all info is accrurate.)

Airbus has a group on site.

Evidence appears to show in-flight breakup. Debris scattered over several miles. Some charred, some not.

Again a repeat of the statement that ISIS has no equipment that could hit a target at 32k feet.

I've heard the news tonight and they mention that the airplane has a tail accident back in 2001. Maybe this is one of the accident cause.

    From wiki:

"On 16 November 2001, while operating for Middle East Airlines as F-OHMP, the aircraft suffered a tailstrike landing in Cairo. It was repaired and went back into service with the airline in 2002"

If this will be the main reason of the crash....it's murder by negligence.....

    WTF??

No. "Operator error." They are not classed as pilots, I understand.

Ah... my apologies. But it was the fault of the 3 guys at the controls and not the ground equipment, ground staff, or the airplane.

Didn't mean to jump at the pilot thing but these people are classed as operators and obviously didn't perform as pilots when pilots should have. Sad state of affairs in some of the airlines.
