Excellent painting! Very beautiful. When i see a B-17 the first thing that comes to my mind is the great Memphis Belle (together with the well known movie).

Bob- Great painting. There were a couple of guys with no B-17 tail and no chute to slow them down that survived dropping out of a B-17. Seems like one went through a convent roof and ended up in a bed and the other landed in deep snow. From memory.

Who says the guy with the net was first? First intentional one, maybe.

Yes, I do recall that a tail gunner had to bail in the soup and as soon as his chute deployed he hit in a deep snow bank without any serious injuries. Joe Jones was impaled by some of the structure and sustained some extensive abdominal injuries. He said that a blacksmith had to cut some of the metal apart to get him out. He had a scar that went from his crotch to his breast bone.
