Big Bum ?Airlander? Takes to the Skies*
Everything hunky dory until flight #2 which ended with a "heavy landing:" Airlander 10, the world's largest aircraft, crash lands after 2nd test flight - Aug. 24, 2016
Not one of British Engineering's finer achievements. I don't get it, didn't we discard airships for any uses other than entertainment/publicity before WW2 ?. Cant see a military use for it ( not exactly stealthy or fast or maneuverable is it), pretty sure amazon aren't lining up to buy them, and judging by its speed and size don't think fedex will use it for when something absolutely positively has to be there on time...
I think it's neat, blimp meet drone. It certainly would be good for remote rescue and aid delivery. Not to mention specialised delivery services, for something as large and awkward as the Airbus wings that come by boat then truck through tiny French towns it would probably be easier to slowly float them over.
