A childhood friend posted this on Facebook, he and his wife are plane spotters and live near Love Field in Dallas.

That's an Airborne Imaging DC-3 out of Mid-Way Regional Airport (KJWY) about 25 miles south of Dallas, operated by the towns of Waxahachie/Midlothian. I keep my Cherokee there.

They have 3 DC-3's and several other planes.

They have been clipped for some reason.

Looks like the wings from a Super DC-3.

But it doesn't have main gear doors. They could have been removed, though.

    Doesn't have the 'super' DC-3 vert/horiz stabilizers.

Too bad she didn't get the entire 'N' number.

Could it be an R4D wing?

It appears to be a standard DC-3 wing. You can still see a slight curvature in the trailing edge near the tip. I remember that the Super DC-3 wing had square tips and were slightly swept back. Standard Dc-3 tail, too.

The only R4D's that had that wing were the ones converted to Super DC-3's, I think.

After doing a little searching, I agree w/ Bob. Clipped standard wings.

Super had slightly more swept wings to compensate for the longer rear fuselage.

Sorry I started this whole question.
