Found this in a field near my house. Engine and interior filled with vermin remnants. Local guy says it's been there at least 20 years. Believe it or not, the engine turns freely. So sad! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Rego search: N5048W (1961 PIPER PA-28-160 owned by PALLADINO MICHAEL F) Aircraft Registration ? FlightAware
Outdated FAA regulations make the greatest planes impossible to repair in economically reasonable manner. Sad!
I can relate. I had a PA 28-151 for 26 years - a fine aircraft. Turns out I know Mike. He's in my American Legion post. Nice guy, it's a shame the aircraft has come to this sad condition. I thought of "rescuing" it but I think it's past the point of diminishing returns. Bob Z.
My old neighbor when I was a kid had one of those. He took me up in it a few times, loved every second of it. His was white with blue stripping..beautiful little aircraft. Sad to see one sitting a Abandoned like that.
It seems like every local airport has one or two airplanes collecting dust with birds nests in the cowl ducts. I asked the FBO about an abandoned twin at my local airport and they said the owner pays his tie-down rent every year. The plane hasn't flown in over a decade I think. .
Loved the PA-28. Switched from a Tomahawk and checked out in one when I was 16 years old and getting set to do my cross country flights for my ticket. Sad that one.
