Are the 512TRs suppose to have an oil cooler on the oil cooler radiator? Or is it just for Euro spec cars? If so, why wouldn't the US versions have them on too? Was it an emissions issue?

512tr's, USA and EUro specs don't have an oil cooler fan. Testarossa's do have them.

I dont believe US 512TRs have them although you really need 1 if you are going to the track w it

I bought 1 from a hot rod shop and my F mechanic installed it for me & wired it to go on simultaneously w the rad fan

How much do you think it helps out? Do you have the shroud? Or just a fan mounted on the back of the cooler?

By the way what i worte above doesn't make any sense. LOL! I meant to say "fan" in there some where.

Update: The oil cooler fan is shown in the 512TR parts manual but not fitted to all the 512TR's I've seen (all USA models I think).
Has anyone seen it fitted OE to a 512TR?

The notation in the SPC indicates that that oil cooler fan is only present on CH (Swiss) version 512TR.

Might be related to some bureaucrat deciding that all vehicles used in mountainous regions (thin air, lots of grades) must have one -- but, as you know, most often, it would be better to have a piece of cardboard there than a fan ;). Seriously, when I was in CO, I got this close to hassling with plumbing in an oil thermostat on my TR -- but it's not so much of an issue here in TX (so I lost interest)...

Even in coastal California on a cold day I never see the oil temp needle move. If I let it idle long enough it comes up some but as soon as you get moving it crashes back down.

But our car is in Texas now too so I guess that problem is off the list.

You're right. Actually there are coolant fans on both sides plus an oil cooler fan on the right. 512TR changed all that though.
