    Never saw that before !!

Strange, the wheel is "standing-up" instead flat on the floor ...

Here, in 2005, there was a thread about spare wheels !

I would be shocked if that 512m spare wheel wasn't the same as the 5-lug TR (just based on the spoke design). Unfortunately, in the TR SPC they give separate part numbers for the spare wheel and spare tire; whereas, in the 512m SPC they have a single part number for the spare tire already mounted on the spare wheel.

Its definitely not the same as the TR because the 512TR spare was 17 inch rim. Iam 99.99999999999 sure of this.

That spare in Mels No 2 post has the offset the reverse direction to the normal TR spare. The offset has the machined flat on the surface we are looking at in the second top shot. Look at the TR wheel and that surface is where the bolt heads go and is machined so. Not sure if that is a plate or something inserted into wheel centre.

Can't agree --didn't Mel say in his post that his spare in the picture is for an F40? (But agree it looks like a separate piece/spacer is zip tied onto the front face? -- for front use vs rear use?)

The TR spare wheel is 3x18 -- are you saying you know that a 512TR spare wheel is SMALLER in diameter? And that you've seen one?

problem with carrying a spare in a 512TR/M is that then you have to carry a jack, wheel brace, etc, to change the wheel.
Do these come as an option as well?

If you have the spare, where does the tool kit go?

I have the slim 512M spare tool luggage(case) option. Its seems it may fit right in front of the tool luggage but i have no way to knowing until I find a spare to fit. Right know we know for sure a spare WAS a option for the 512M. I do not know if there ever was a TR option . Steve, the reason for the 17 inch is because of the slant position it was placed in and also the size of the new headlights. Also I was told this was the reason a luggage set was not offered for the 512M. Man if we only had a options brochure surface with photos :)

Also Steve Iam in contact with someone who ownsone and is e-mailing me photo's. This is where Iam getting the info from. I post info when its concrete

Perfect (always like getting good information -- and I have none). The reduced "size" argument makes good sense for that different mounting arrangement, but would still baffle me that they used the older TR spoke style. Both sides please ;)

Correct Steve, it is now only tied to the wheel; will be mounted on the inside as spacer !

When I bought the car, I insisted on getting a spare (for free :) ) so they gave me this one and had to make this spacer for use in the back ...

So: before you buy a spare, make sure it fits front and back !!!!! Take the two wheels off and CHECK !

But this would be bad, unless the total high is the same as the 18" rears, and if so, then using a 17" makes no sense.

you wouldnt want to drive with a different height rears, it would put unnecessary strain on the diff.

There was a 512TR spare option too. I have the owners manual for it but like most have never seen one. Maranello C. In the UK told me the idea was that by carrying it you had the mobility option in the event that a tire was destroyed. That being the usual outcome of any tire damage while on the move. Something a can of fluff or goo cannot fix. Any road service can jack and wrench, but finding a tire or worse a wheel to get the car to a safe place is a tougher challenge.

Here's my results.......I was send pictures of the 360 spare. I was told that this was the spare option. Because the spare is stamped F113 on the inside it belonged to the 512m. Still not convinced.

Better any 4th wheel/tyre on it than only 3 on the car ... :)

Please post the pics of this 360 spare. Is the spoke style still "TRish"?

Yeah, but barely with these uber-skinny wheels/tires ;)

Always amazes me when I see someone (with a regular car) just continuing to drive on one of these ridiculous spare wheels like it's perfectly OK for extended normal use at high speed (and I see that a lot here on I35). Not sure if the OD of the TR spare tire matches the stock TR rear tire OD exactly, but my guess would be "no" as it may be a compromise to allow front and rear use -- and is really meant as an emergency thing to allow immediate limping to a tire store.

Not if its going to wreck the diff. and it might if they are different rolling diameters.
