A few weeks ago I looked over this 78 BB512 (titled as a 79) for a buyer that was interested in getting the full story before taking the plunge. Turns out not much has been done to it since it was purchased second hand in 1990. Its been painted but is a factory black car on tan. Im sure it would've had boxer trim and any of the originally satin painted parts are now gloss. Not a huge deal, easy to correct that. What I found very exciting is the originality of the car, the lack of molestation and no DOT. Its a carb car, very original but in need of TLC due to lack of service. The gator backs are like new looking but from the 90's. The Hoses are original everywhere, proper siaag printing on the fuel and vacuum hoses, coolant hoses, everything is original. This is good and bad. Its a time capsule but needs to be gone through. Ill probably take 1000+ photos of every small detail of this car.

Ansa sport exhaust is a dealer install and the steering wheel is wrong but the windshield is perfect, wiper blades looks correct, proper valve stem caps, has the spare with paper decal on sidewall and jack bag with hammer, owners manual, blaupunkt radio, pumps with BCD decals, Dinoplex, door vapour barriers untouched, perfect fog lights, fans, grill, dash, etc.

    Me too and my pleasure!

Look at the right bank plug wire set. Note the choke wire thats threaded through the plug wires and the properly mounted brake booster vacuum hose, the original vacuum hose. The wires are red inside the white silicone sheathing which is where the replacement wire sets available today are wrong because they have black cavis wires inside.

    Italian market car too.

Is that Blaupunkt original? It looks a little bit newer than the car-- late 80s, maybe.

Can you tell us the serial number?

Cool project! What are you going to do with it-- leave it original but cleaned up, or restore it?

Carb boxers had the radios dealer installed. Some cars would have no radio and added later in life. This radio could be the first and only radio its ever had even if it was installed 3 years after the car was built. If everything else was correct on the car at a judged event would there be a deduction? Doubt it.

Very nice! Glad to see another Boxer being reborn. I assume that the car has been sitting for a while with the originality of the hoses. At least I hope that its been sitting.

I'm assuming Paul this was Dave Nichol's car , the "president choice" king.

Any documents of service with the car of where he used to service it ?

That looks nice. Funny how after Paul blesses the car, we are all in line and are quick to give praise but before Paul got a hold of it...we were talking down its value in another thread.

I bet this car was bought well but will be a big dollar boxer after some of Paul's great work.

As far as I know Im the only one that looked at the car in person (with the buyer) before the auction ended, agreed on a price and made the deal. Ill start going through it very shortly and post some pics.
