    240/45ZR415 MICHELIN TRX

For My Straman, I need 2 frnt TRX tires
original size and tread Michelin 240/45 VR 415 TRX

Coker has only a 240 / 45 trx with different tread pattern..
They sent them to me , I dont want to mix patterns...or do I ?
or 240/55 which are too tall in orig tread.
I have 2 new 280/45's original on rear now..
My fronts are not that bad but I want new!
    online Longstone has same story?

where can I find the Fronts??
I am looking for 2 of these
    Michelin 240/45 VR 415 TRX

What are TRX people using today??
Is it wrong to mix tread?

    Anyone???

I had the same problem. In discussion with Coker, it is my understanding that the original tread pattern is no longer made in the front tire size.

This size is shared by a TRX package BMW car, so they are only making the later pattern. Note that the speed rating of these tires (front and rear) is also different from each other.

The rear tires are still (sporadically) made in the original pattern as they are unique to the metric Testarossa. I had to buy past-dated DOT tires for those two years ago as they have not been made in some time.

Bottom line - I do not think the original tread pattern is available any longer.

Change out the rear tires, as well?

Five years is the rated life of the rubber materials.

This. Can you get the "incorrect" pattern for both front/rear?
Is the spline the same for the early metric vs. later non-metric wheels? i.e. change to a later spline wheel?

Yes, they have been NLA for some time.

One would think Goodyear Vintage would recognize that all of these fine machines have not disappeared from the planet!

Not to my knowledge - the rears are only made (once every three years or so) with the old pattern molds which are unique to the Testarossa.

Yes, you can change to the single bolt 16" wheels (and also I think there may be a custom wheel available for these splined wheels in inch sizes) but I wanted to keep my car original.

I wouldn't be worried about having TRX GT's on the front and TRX's on the rear. New GT's are an excellent tyre.

Flying mirror cars should be left with only the driver's side mirror.

That is much worse than modifying the wheels/tires.

Those wheels are indeed very much in the original sense of style.

TRX is a very average tire at best, it is expensive and you are experiencing the availability problem that will never get better.

If you plan on having the car long buy some wheels that will allow real tires. Caribou offers them. I believe they are the ones pictured.

Now that looks hot! Not often I see a ferrari with a non-OEM wheel that looks like that!

If I could have my way
I would actually like to go the other direction.
Would a 15 inch 5 star mag fit the 86 tr
Then i would go with big black 55 or 60 series wide rubber
Something like a daytona chromodora wheel
In magnesium. Even the early boxers had these.
Has it been done , any pics out there!
Nothing tops big black sidewalls for machismo

Put the trx rims in storage, buy these:
    http://bit.ly/1bfScgW

Refinish them, switch out the spline drives, buy the BFGs and be done with it.

WOW...Exactly what I am looking for...
If you save image...then open and enlarge..
it appears if they have already been repainted, and are dinged to hell.
not to mention whats under the paint that you cant see..
bottom right wheel in pic is totalled

These need to be stripped and sent to a wheel shop for filling then refinished..
    no savings here..
I would take a full set of 16's tonite..
but they got to be cleaner than that.

    Thanks for thinking of me!

Sorry we have recently had some bad news from Michelin in t hat the Ferrari Testarossa 240/45ZR415 TRX GT tyres are not going to be made this year. We were hoping they would be made this month.

Car is Gone now, but this was the tread..standard TRX

Why did I know that Coker and Longstone would let me down had I kept the car..

I believe this wheel will now go extinct...Michelin has no need to repro this tire.

Not for just one cars needs. someone should recast the 87 16 inch wheel and go to market with it.
