Looks nice.. I see bondo dust and over spray in nose.. piping is hideous a carbed car in Canada.. Lets guess what she'll sell for... If it was in US, I'd say $200,000..today in Canada, probably $180,000 I suspect someone will chase this car down quickly now , as in one year it will be $300,000. I just want to know one thing...What are people doing about TRX tires??
My kinda car. I like these models. The piping would not be my first choice, but I like the period correctness of it.
I remember buying my girlfriend a leather jacket at Daniel leather that was black with that red piping , and suede pockets. LOL....too bad about that interior, and the leather ripping where the ash tray is ... But it's good to know some money was spent to make her run! Very refreshing to see a car that says it has $80,000 in recipts.
it looks like it needs 200k to bring it back to original condition, it would be difficult to drive down the road in that condition
I bet there is a nice car in there waiting to get out. Recover the seats, knock-offs and XWX's, a correct steering wheel, satin black for the boxer trim and intake covers, round up some tools and books. It's all superficial stuff, not a big deal really. I like that it was never butchered for DOT/EPA and has "no accidents". By the way, what's wrong with the gas cap? That looks like the one on my '79 BB.
Wow... This is tough crowd... If you think $200K is needed on this car, then I certainly will not be posting any pics of mine... yikes...
The bbi nose scares me ... And what is underneath. The interior / paint though very expensive can be fixed. The bb isn't rare....Money is
Because you know nothing about boxers. Its the narrow grill that all 365's and BB512's could've come with depending on the market. Look in the parts book.
Good day BR, Indeed, I recognize some of the car's issues... but one poster stated $200K is need to sort the car out?? well, maybe, if the person took the car to a place that really, really over charges ... Indeed, paint can cost a bit (say $30K)... but unless this car proves to be a wreck, I think that you can easily redo the paint and interior for less than $200K... just saying... Cheers, Sam
Hi Sam, hope all is well in your neck of the woods....I took that comment with a grain of salt myself. The bbi nose could not have come on the 512s because the bbi wasn't made yet my comments of fear would refer to why or where is the original nose and why someone put the bbi nose on it ..parts book or not....... Which always leads to the next question, what else needs to be addressed to bring the car back to original....if you "re into originality.
Good day BR, All's fine out here in the Wild West! Finally the weather is on the upside and so it now feels like Spring is coming and so now there is hope that we can retire our Winter wear soon . As for the BBi nose? Hard to say what or when this happened, as the car is 34 years old and so a lot can happen during this time. It could be that the nose was damaged and at the time all the owner could find was a BBi nose? Maybe the owner just liked the look of the BBi nose? Who "nose"... er knows ... your guess is as good as mine. That being said, if there was a significant shunt to the front one could easily find evidence of this. I say this, as Boxers were not made overly robust/stout in these areas. As for originality... I agree and I would prefer the car that way and seeing how Paul is restoring the first BB, we can see that in the right hands it is totally doable and possible. Personally without seeing and inspecting the car, one does not know what the car needs or where it is currently at originality-wise. As for the costs... who knows, as this will depend on the car, the owner, and where they wish to "take" the car (resto or not). Although Ebay is not a definitive or reliable market indicator it does make for some interesting posts Cheers, Sam
Back in the early 1980s, it wasn't uncommon to want to "update" your car so it looked like the latest and greatest thing.
