Fuel gauge is pegged at empty. The 7.5 amp fuse was blown(instruments). I replaced it and still nothing. I get a reading of 13.5 volts from the ground and + terminal and 5.7 volts from the + and violet wire on the back of the gauge. I assume the violet wire comes from the tank sending unit. Does this mean the analog gauge has taken a crap?

Hi. I have had intermittent working fuel gauge. Had the sender unit in the tank replaced. Didn`t work. Replaced the fuel gauge itself. Didn`t work. Fuse is ok.
So I don`t have the solution, but wanted to post this under your thread....

Quick read I did says a bad ground causes the gauge to go to zero.

Have you tried running a test ground wire to see if you get a reading?

Hey! Same problem on my 91 TR. Cleaned contacts at the sender. No joy. No red light on either, just reads empty when the tank is clearly not.

When I turn the key to on, none of the wires at the plug connecting to the level sender have any power.

Next check is the gauge, I am looking forward to reading the solutions to this post.
