It's here!

After waiting for about a month it has finally arrived. I was a bit nervous as I bought the car without ever laying eyes on it. I had never even been in a Boxer. The car was exactly as represented and very easy to drive. Just let off the clutch and it just eases away from a stop. When I get some good pictures with the camera I will upload more.

The Healey is my DD, believe it or not. The van I can't claim.

 

I haven't had much of a chance to drive it since it's been raining a bunch. Just around town its surprisingly docile. Hopefully it dries up this weekend and I'll get a chance to get a good feel for it.

 

The car is number 49805. It was imported new by Paul Novelly of St. Louis but kept in California. The car does have its BAR sticker. Novelly had the car until 2006 when he sold it to a Dr in Long Island. The dr kept the car till 2012 when he sold it to the owner of Bell Ford in Scottsdale. This is who I acquired from, through a broker. I started casually looking for a boxer several months ago. I chased a couple that were local to me nut the owners were not interested in selling. I thought I'd just give a broker I knew a call to see if he was aware of anything. He told me this car would be available. I went back and forth on price once, saw some pics, and the deal was done. Very simple. When I started looking I thought I'd find a non red carbed car for under $150k. How did I misjudge things. I. Any event, got my ideal color combo and the car is just incredible. 13k kms, original paint and interior. Records galore and very untouched/original. Car drives just wonderfully. I'll post nicer pics on Monday.

 

It's true. I'm moving it along. My motivation is two-fold, financial and condition. Financially, the car was a stretch for me when I bought it just a short time ago. Now, given current values, I just don't want to drive it. Condition wise, it's too nice for me. I wanted more of a driver quality car but purchased this because it was the color I wanted, it didn't have any issues, and I figured I better pull the trigger before I was completely priced out of the market. However, it's too nice for me to use as I'd like. I've got a few other old cars that are fun but their values don't send me in to convulsions when I think about getting caught in the rain.

 

Money in the bank, as they say. I didn't think I'd lose out but I'm certainly pleased with how solid values have been lately.
