Hello, whats the value of a original toolkit from a '81 512 BB, please see the pictures. Thanks for helping Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
There's a vendor on ebay that sells lots of books, tools for Italian cars. He bought a few of my old Maserati things. I would look at his prices and basically 'halve' them for a) normal person to person and b) packaging with the car. I sold an 'unmarked' BB kit (no insignia of any sort( about 3 years ago for $2k ish, but that would be light today.
Similar toolkits (briefcase and all tools) have been on ebay for $ 6,000+, example: Ferrari 365 Tool Kit Briefcase GTB 4 Daytona | eBay However I recall seeing a very similar ad on ebay a long time ago at this price level. It suggests this item is not changing hands often. The briefcase alone (no tools) is showing up on ebay at $ 700. Paul Baber shows tool kits at £ 1,200 (Paul Baber - Europe's leading Ferrari parts specialist) So I would imagine that a tool kit like this in good shape (briefcase and tools) could be worth $ 2,000. But in the end there is no established price range for these items.
It's not a perfect example, and this particular tool kit is not as difficult to find as some of the others. I say $1,500 in this condition (and try to forget that there are people out there listing them for $6K). Even better, leave it with the car!
Good day. Over the past few years I have seen similar tool kits in similar condition sell on Ebay for about the $1500 USD price. That being said...since the cars that use these toolkits have recently risen, I would imagine that this would also place upward pressure on the toolkit prices as well. Consequently, I would agree with Rovexienus and expect the price to be in the $2000 USD range. Cheers, Sam
Thank's to you all, this helps. It will stay with the car, I only wanted to know what the value is. I also thought about ~ US $ 2000 for it. Thanks for helping
If you do not clean the rust off it will get worse and reduce the value greatly. But make sure you do not use an oil that will then damage the foam cushion....!
Question: I just bought a toolkit for my '80 512bb but when I mounted it & tried to close the bonnet the internals for the side light hits the toolkit. So, what am I doing wrong &/or did they make two different sizes for the 365/512 & I got the wrong one?
"There are two versions, I believe, 'early' and 'later'." I've seen 4 versions, including those for the 365BBs. Some are much less common, as noted in a post above.
There are various 'suitcase' type of toolkits. Basically Ferrari started tase using for the 365GTC/4, 365GT 2+2 and the late Daytona. Followed by the 365BB, 512BB and 400. Attached a sample (first 5 pictures) of the 365GTC/4 and late Daytona/365BB. The 365GTC/4 toolkit is slightly larger then the other toolkits, hence I does not fit well in later models. Hope this helps.
