93 yellow TR w what looks like 8400 miles on auction@ Mecum. Don't know if I'll be around to see it off. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
So then the car was really bought for almost $115k considering the sales tax of about 6%. Still cheap IMO
This car sold at $102K because it had a dent in the right rear panel. Here is the mecum link: 1993 Ferrari Testarossa 512 TR | Mecum Auctions . I'm still trying to determine the VIN number. Looks like someone is trying to flip it at the upcoming Leake Auction. I wonder if the panel will be repaired and disclosed. nice detective work. but that dent is not a big deal.. easy fix. Car still seems to have been sold low.
i wonder if it might have had a repaint, or hiding some issues as the engine deck lid has clearly been painted to match the body colour (not original), and so have the air intake dividers ..... normally black, although there is some contention if this may have been a rare factory option, i know). ..... anyway, this may go some way to explain the relatively low price. BR Jez
Hi, I have to disagree ..... as i have a late '94 and the front deck lid is black, and all the 512's i have ever seen here in the UK at least, have a black engine lid....... maybe its different for UK/Euro cars , but as far as i am aware no TR left the factory with anything other than a black front deck lid, until they launched the 512m, when some older 512TR's were subsequently modified. We're you there at Mecum when it went? I don't recall seeing a dent, I think that would have been pretty noticeable. When I get back to the office I will look at more pics I took. I may also have the vin, I'll check...
I was not at the Mecum auction. I found that photo with the dent on the Mecum website. Please post the VIN if you have it. I'm also trying to get the VIN from Leake. Thanks.
I saw this car at the auction. It looked very nice and clean for whatever that is worth. AS you all know, I love yellow!!
You are correct. I have had a few 93's and they were always black. Only car I ever had with a body color front deck lid portion was the M.
Hello Ferrarians! Full disclosure...I work for Leake Auction Company as the IT Director. I came across this thread earlier tonight. The consignor has provided us with more photos than what our website can handle and I wanted to share some of them with you all. As you can see, the dent that was noticed at Mecum was repaired. Also, the VIN that you were provided is incorrect. There is a picture in this post with the correct VIN of ZFFLG40A7P0095077. If you have any questions about the vehicle, our staff will answer as best we can, or find the answer for you. The truth is, that most of you probably know this car better than we do. To that, I have a question; Does anyone know how many Fly Yellow 512TRs were produced in 1993? I found exactly zero on the Ferrari Life registry. Mods, please let me know if I need to do anything to verify myself to post in the future. Hope to see you all in Dallas. 6 Ferraris in the sale so far and still a month out.
