Does anyone know what lot 3044 sold for this weekend? This was an 84 BBi that Auctions America was selling this weekend. Results have not yet been posted on their website

My neighbor watched it and texted me it sold at $230k not including buyer's premium.
That is secondhand, so confirmation is appreciated.

I believe 700 mile car is RM or it was the "deal of century". Price confirmed as in another thread in Vintage section Auctions America BBi sold for $230K

no, I have the original factory wheels with TRX tires. My car is #42213 (red & no boxer trim). I bought it last fall from a fellow chatter, FPARKER out of Atlanta. Do you keep your car here in the Charlotte area?

Yes, it would be nice to get them together. I am in South Park area. There are 5 Boxers in the Charlotte area, 4 injected and one Carb car and you are the only local owner whom I have yet to meet!

700 KM car is going off at RM during Monterey week, so I have been told. Also, there is Aleventhal's old 365 BB being auctioned up there as well.

    Should be interesting.

I bought the Boxer at the Auctions America auction Saturday. My high bid was $230 plus $23,000 sales commission. I live in Oregon so no sale tax and I can register it here.

Believed to have two owners, last one put few miles on since 2008. total odometer reads
10,250 km. Had full service in 2008.

Amerispec car done Dec 1983 - registered as 1984. #47421

Very straight and complete, looks like lots of storage. Dash has shrunk.
I haven't taken possession of the beast yet so I will provide more info once it arrives.

welcome rezlight and congratulations on the purchase !
i second the idea to contact dick fritz - he can give you a copy of all the papers they have on your car, which is a good thing to have.

Can I get some advice on using this car? From the receipts I have it appears to have travelled 407 miles in the last six years. Motor out service was done in 2008. The car has been looked through since then and little issues rectified, battery, brake fluid, etc..

Am i safe to drive and enjoy this car? How often are belts needed, 30K? Does age matter or just miles?

I plan on respecting the low mileage on this car but I do like driving my cars. Is 50 miles a month enough to keep everything sealed and avoid fuel evaporation, etc.

Excuse me but who is Mr. Ritz? His name appears on several of my EPA documents.

Clearly I have a lot to learn and reading this forum has been fascinating, thanks for the welcome.

have the car checked out by an experienced ferrari - preferably bb specialist, and do what needs to be done.
then drive it all you want.

10k miles is way past bubble wrapped museum piece, so you might as well just drive. you will find that this car is not a commuter, or an easy car to drive in warm weather or snow, or park at any time. so its not like it will be your go-to car for every errand, and thus you wont be stacking up miles on it anyway.

Like he said. Use the car after a good check up AND a belt replacement. I think it's more a matter of using it often than doing a lot of miles. Make sure it gets up to normal temp every time you use it to avoid condensation and drive it so everything gets oiled as it should. Don't let it sit for long time in uncontrolled environment. That is the key for a good vehicle.

    Where are you located?

I'm sure there is an expert somewhere between SF and Seattle for you to work with? The BB guys can chime in on that. You will probably want to consider belts, 400 miles in 6 years means they sat pretty static for long periods, not sure that's good, but I'm no expert. Yes, be sure to let it warm up if possible before a drive. Welcome to the party!

yes i missed that. 6k miles is still not worth not driving it.

just drive it often enough to keep things moving, but try to have fun doing it !!

People would spend $350K on a 458 and drive it and not worry about depreciation, but now Boxers have become cars people won't drive. Ridiculous. When I was out seaching for mine so many had under 20K kilos and they all looked kind of worn, so I don't believe most of the odos in these cars, as many came over from Europe after being driven for years and then converted with updated spedos. Anyway, just my observation. If I were looking for a show car it probably would be one less fun to drive and then there would be far less temptation to pile on the smiles :)

If you look at the cars for sale in Europe they all have some miles on them. Some even over 100K kilometers and they are asking large money.

Get some new tires if you plan to drive. Belts too.
