I need to pick up some relays and thought there was a replacement you could buy from bosch that were the exact same for the 512TR? Any leads? I think I have a few sticking relays or relays that won't won't kick on.

    Thanks!

if you still have in bosch relais you just have a look at the partsnumber stamped or printed on each relais

Not sure which relays yet, but possible something to do with ignition? I can crank over my car but it won't start. Starter engages and turns engine, but the engine doesn't start. If I bump the key forward a little bit the car catches and starts. I can shut the car off and retry to start and it will start immediately. When the car doesn't fire up, It's when I let the car sit for weeks where sometimes it won't start. Could be fuel relays or ignition? I haven't dove into it yet but I think it's something to do with a sticking relay?

I think the owners manual, and the FSM for sure tell which relays do what. Search the parts crossover thread for "relays", it will list the relays and their newer superseded numbers. I just bought a bunch from Wes-Garde Components in Irving Tx. They stock the two main groups of relays, they don't stock the one with the "k" on it.

Looking good in their Mel, perfect fit!
I wonder if Dave Helms might know of a source for the connector?

Dontiglion and I were just discussing that same connector. AMP says that it is property of FIAT!

Hopefully I can get him to chime in.

But...You should be able to release the individual clamps from the blue connectors.

That blue part isnt usually the problem.....it is the little metal harness connectors inside. (I thought you could source those last time we spoke)

Original part is A.M.P part number 281878-6. Pin 4 Solid gray wire( Emission pump) melted.
This is the e-mail response I got from te.com I believe they now own Amp

    Hello
I am sorry but this product is restricted to FIAT and FIAT harness makers. We are under contract to only sell to them. You will have to contact FIAT directly to try to obtain this product.
    Sorry.

    Thanks and Regards

Joe, this means imo that we should go to Fiat/Lancia brokers who have cars from that date and search ...

Once we know the type of car (harness) we can help our 512TR brothers ...

Or ask that AMP fellow if he knows something more .... :)

the only problem is that fiat/lancia does not know what connector is in what car. also those connectors are not single avaiable, only with the complete harness :( if still available ??

so best would be to ask an "old" fiat/lancia mechnanic who perhaps knows and then have a look at the junkyard and good luck :)

is it exactly this blue connector you are looking for? can you post pls pictures with higher resolutions and from all sides? I will try then to look here around

Sounds like you guys across the ocean, with access to Fiat salvage should be able to come up up with that part. It will mean poking around a few different Fiats, until you find it, undoubtedly it will be located in a hard to get to area. Obviously it would mean cutting off some Fiat harness then carefully stripping the Fiat wiring out, or if the pins were the same type, you could graft it on the 512 wiring, leaving the pins in place?

I think in the world of mass production this type of harness connector was a novelty in low volume cars in the late 80s and early 90s. It was designed to make production faster, not better.

My thoughts are today that these harness connectors are terrible in the long run. I would much rather have the individual spade connectors on my 308. I just think the contacts age terribly and have a much lower clamping force as time moves on....causing these melting wires on the high amp circuits.
