Just wondered with the price increases if owners are making it a priority to get their boxers appraised again? Had mine done last week and now Im going to be giving more money to my insurance company! I hate to pay more but man would it suck if something bad happened and I was under-insured.

Appraisals are typically higher than selling prices. You could see $300K to $350k on average I would think or more for an injected car thats show quality but not perfect. Its so hard to know right now with whats going on in the market. My appraiser used American selling prices including the RM car, auction results globally, other sales and input from ferrari experts he uses for more input. Then somehow came up with a number then added 10% to compensate for the Canadian dollar since mine is in Canadian funds compared to US cars then they include our sales taxes. This is for insurance purposes in the event I need to cut a check for a replacement boxer after mine gets rolled up into a ball.

Call me or email me Pete! You're a tough guy to get a hold of lol

If you are insuring it why not as much as they will give on agreed value policy. I am going to speak with a new company and will be looking for 250K and my car is no where near perfect.

I adjusted my insured value up recently. Just requested $325k as an agreed value and got it. No appraisal needed.

Yes. I finally got a quote with Haggarty that is cheaper than Geico with an agreed value. With TR/BB prices on the rise everyone should take a second look at their policies. I had it on Geico because my daily driver is with them and it was easy to just make a call and add it.

One company I considered wont insure the car. Im currently with Lant which Hagarty bought so Im not sure I want an American company insuring me in Canada, could cause headaches?

If you dont mind me asking, what is your car appraised at and what does it cost annually or monthly? You can PM me if you prefer.

You can run a quote online in about five minutes. You state the value and it spits out a number. No giving up a ton of personal information only to have it say, "Someone will call you with the quote." It gives you the quote and lets you play with variables. I would say the biggest variable is the value of the car.

IIRC I put in $80,000 value and it came back with $1,159 a year. You can play with the inputs to raise/lower this number. Off the top of my head I put occasional useage / not used as a daily driver, and $2,500 deductible, garaged, not tickets/accidents. You need to have a daily driver that is a 2004 or newer. Im not sure if there will be an appraisal as I ran the online quote yesterday and today is a holiday. But they did answer the phones so its worth a shot.

Side Note: My wife is an Insurance specialist for people of high net worth. Car collections, art collections, jewerly etc......she actually recommended Haggarty or Chub. I dont think Chub sells direct to the public, so a broker is needed.

Geico was $1512 a year with a mystery value. They wouldnt tell me what that number was. It has to be totaled before the adjuster starts to low ball you.

Regarding the American company and the car being in Canada, according to the wife, as long as you stated the address honestly and they sold you a policy, its a non issue. LLoyds of London sell all sorts of policies all over the world.

Long winded but hope it helps.

Timely thread, I was just working with my insurance company on an appraisal to reflect new values. I am thinking I don't want anything under $300k, comments welcome.

I guess I will adjust w/ my carrier. I have 3 cars that need to be reconciled.

I hate to pay more but this seems a high class problem :)
