1991 Testarossa <4000 miles, red/tan Mecum Dallas 9/5/2014. $115,000
Harrisburg auction in July: '93 512TR 8kmi Yellow @ $102,000. You may see it listed somewhere for $150k.
100-125k: avg miles, appears to be a euro (side fender markers), color pushes price as majority are Red and a Black is the second most sought after color, but harder to find. Prediction is based on serviced complete car (books, records, tools, import doc if applicable)
What was said by the auctioneer about the car and what did you assess the condition being if you were there?
The 512TR was a Euro model which certainly reduces the value of the car here in the US. It sold for 119k plus 10% commission equates to $130,900. That's a good number for a Euro
I was sure it was a euro without even seeing the VIN given the side markers and fog lights (some people do add and change them). The price was strong regardless of the version. Makes me think whoever bought the black/black one on ebay a few months ago at $88k that everyone was afraid of now stands to make a nice return assuming it needed $15k in work.
I'm no expert but the owners agent told me he didn't think it was a euro car. He said the owner has had it about a year. It was a really sharp car. Sort of wish I had gone stronger bidding on it. Oh well on the hunt for another one.
frankly, i would want the euro version. i have one, and not having to fool around with those ridiculous mouse belts alone is worth having the euro version, never mind the smaller side markers etc.
I do not know for certain, but visually Euros have side fender lights (round dot light) behind the front wheel, different fog lights (clear circle&square on lens), and no mouse seat belts inside. The black auction car had all the cues from the posted pics. The owner could have made all the mods on a US spec car, but I doubt anyone would go through the level of detail to mod their fenders at a body shop for side markers to make their car pass for a euro.
I bet you are right. I don't think it had the auto shoulder seat belt. Thanks for the info. Does a Euro Spec car matter? I checked the speedo and the dial and odometer were in miles not km. I think I would rather have the euro spec. Why are some saying that reduces the value? Thanks
That is what we used to call Grey Market... The serial # may indicate , possibly not 17 numerals..someone had to legalize it when it was imported. Does that matter today....Maybe, maybe not... All Boxers are actually grey market....and look.. But they were never imported at all, only by conversion... There is a euro only Daytona...."A"... which has more HP....they are actually worth more..time will tell with the TR For some reason , I would say most will frown on a euro TR
