hi team, after many years hard work etc,,
I've finally found what I think may be the testarossa for me and I love it so much coolest ferrari ever! so much more attitude! (single mirror!)

now I'm starting to think that a classic Ferrari should have carbs!! T rossa obviously doesn't maybe I should think of something else!? I know the boxer is an option but a good one is out of my league unfortunately any other thoughts??

    or at least talk me into a 4.9L 390hp 180 degree V12!!

IMHO this whole carb thing is highly overrated. Just wait until your multi-carbed engine needs its fuel system rebuilt and carbs synchroed. Early EFI systems are simple, quick start smooth running and low maintenance

Both systems have their pros and cons and appeal to different buyers. Traditional buyers want carbs and 12 cylinders. If you ever have a testarossa that develops a drivability problem you need to find a mechanic that knows his stuff and if you need an ECU for either bank you're going to be pretty sad, and they do fail!

I solved this dilemma by buying the TR first - after all it was my dream car. Then 6 years later I bought a carbed 308 GTB. Both together are WAY less than a carbed boxer...

Some say the carb engine has better throttle response and noise.
Some say the EFI is so much easier to maintain that it is more desirable.

I too would have loved a 512 BB, but as it was out of my league I opted for a 512 TR. It might be EFI, but no complaints about the sound it makes, that's for sure! :)

Usually when folk get close to their first Ferrari they worry about spending so much on a car - your excuse for not buying seems to be that maybe I want to spend more

Just do it and then in a few years (after the crash) you may be able to add another with carbs
