    On carbed 512 Boxers I see grills that fill the entire space in the front bumper with fog lights set behind as in the 365 BB and others with short grills with open fog lights as in the BBI's. Was this a transitionary thing that occurred during the BB's production?

    You are correct.
    365BB, 512BB full grill, BBi short grill.
    Newman will probably give you the Chassis number when it changed.

    I believe it depends on what home market the car was built for. Some had a grill all the way across and others has a shorter grill with fog lights beside it.

    Mine is a German car and has the short grill. I prefer the cleaner look of the full width grill.

    Correct, market specific. Parts book indicates two grills for 512 and 365 carb'd cars.
