Hi everyone, I've been a quite lurker for the past several years and looking at getting into a T.R. My question may be a subjective one but I'd be curious on what your thoughts are on resale values of Testarossas with respect to color (when all other things are equal). I love the car of course in any color but wondering if a black would fetch a different price when it comes to resale compared to the more popular Reds.
Hi Kris, Here's my thought- the color of the car doesn't effect the value of the car very much at all. What does change is the size of the addressable market- lot's of folks will by a nice red or a black TR, fewer are interested in yellow or silver and then you get into some of the less popular colors and you have to find just the right buyer for the car. Good luck in your search!
I don't think color affect price but it affect the buyers group. Red were more popular because more people like them. More buyers for red cars. Red on tan are very nice cars and they sell easy. Personally I didn't want a red TR because there are TOO many. I like things that are a litke different. My car is yellow, is it worth less? I don't think so! But it will be more difficult to sell because of less interested buyers for a yellow car. Norm and I were typing a the same time LOL!
I completely agree, the color will maybe affect how long it will take to sale, but not the price. I say maybe because there are less people interested in non-red TR, but non-red TR are much more rare, so if you find a rare combo and you love it, you'll have to grab it fast as you might never see another one. That's what I did with mine.
See, in some cases it goes the other way. While I like red, I was set on yellow. There were two interested parties in my car. I bumped up my offer as I wanted the yellow...
Does anyone know how many white with gray interior TR's were made? This is my color combo and I am just curious. I think that mine is the only one in that color combo in the TR registry but I want to confirm as there might be others that simply are not registered yet. Thanks
Condition always trumps color. It's more the odd one off type colors that affect price ,and usually downward. Many Ferrari affectionanto's love anything but red because they have seen so many red cars at car shows. When a rare Maroon one shows up everyone goes oooooooo, aaaaaaa, but in reality , the resale red is what sells these cars majority of times. The odd color ones attract multiple ferrari owners typically. I would suggest you buy the desirable color to you , and enjoy the car you dream about in all it's glory your way. The term "resale red" was invented for a reason
A shame that Enzo did not depart from the norm is his offerings Perhaps something a little more outrageous. Imagine if he offered this. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Black is the most desirable color and more valuable than all others TR's .... for me. BUT, everyone is not me.
Buy what attracts you, go and look at actual cars as it's hard to tell from photos what looks good. I've heard it said a few times - ".... looking for a (insert F model) in an interesting color other than red." Maybe a sign of the times. There are some great colors these cars came in, don't limit yourself! And... Condition, condition, condition.....
