Reading another thread got me to post this one. I've been thinking about it myself for my engine compartment. Should I leave the cosmolime in place so it is more original or should I clean it to make the compartment cleaner and look better?

I believe it depends upon your goal. Is it preservation (yes) or concourse (no)? I have had my car detailed with consideration, as best as possible, to keeping the Cosmo intact.

Leaving it on for originality is like leaving hang tags on and plastic on the seats.

    Ferraristi,

Gawd! It took me 5 years with a tooth brush and Q tips to get that stuff off the car. Honestly, it looks like crap with it on. It just detracts from the overall look of the car.

To remove it, use brake cleaner.....away from rubber parts and 3M tar and adhesive remover.

White spirit is the cheapest and easiest to use but it is not a green product. Having said that, any product that will remove the stuff is not green short of sand blast. :D

    IMO
