Read a lot about diff problems here on f-chat. Reason is I'm helping a friend who owns a Testarossa from 86 with a possible diff problem. I'm looking for the stronger version that Newman made years back but unable to locate. Is there anyone that can help me on a possible supplier in Europe? Called Eurospares and a dealer in Italy who could only offer the standard version.

    Thanks in advance.

    Dirk

In Europe there is the one from Phillwozza in England (Forza component). The Newman is available in USA from competizion and sports cars. (Richard Cappocia)

I did very good experience with the modena diffs from australia, but next time I will try from phillwozza because of the lifetime warranty

    Hi Dirk,
    Good move ordering those parts.
Would you share with us the symptoms (strange noise? etc?) that reveal a possible failing diff?
I'm interested because my 512 TR is at 50.000 Km and I'm hoping to wait until the next engine-out to upgrade the diff...
    Thanks,

Hi guys, I have to report another broken differential too.

Unfortunately it's on my own '88 Testarossa. It has driven 47.000 kms so far, of which only 1.500 kms since I own it (May 2014).

I will give an update about the repair. Meanwhile all interesting addresses in Belgium or Europe for parts related to this issue are very welcome.

I am having the diff on mine replaced as a precautionary measure. We are putting in the forza diff which they were able to get from Ricambi here in the US.

    WOW ! ! !
first post here and also filled out your profile :)
such people I like to help

sad to hear about your broken diff :(
so to all what MEL always said: it is not a question if the diff will break, it is a question only when

so what do you need all?
have here several used CP´s ( still ok but not for the horsepower my car has ), also brand new never used diff from modena-australia
    I would prefer a diff form phil - livetime guarantee ! ! !

Yes. Vibration in the seat of your pants ( could be mistaking for a wheel bearing noise or out of balance wheel). Crunching noise on tight turns (parking etc.)

Could you expect any slippage similar to a clutch?

That's good to hear because I'm getting slippage. Car has done less that 10k miles. After a long drive, there's no smell of clutch burning or anything but something is definitely slipping. The clutch also makes a "chirping" sound on release or rapid acceleration after release. Could be the throwout bearing. Either way, I'm getting it checked out in a couple of weeks.

PS clutch fluid has not been replaced for a while. Not sure if it was replaced during the Major Service a couple of years ago.

during major service the engine has to go out. so when the engine is in again you have to bleed the clutch system and then you just change the fluid

I'd check the fluid level and bleed the clutch. Takes a few minutes to bleed it. Need two people though!

There are some kits available on the market that puts a slight pressure on the brake fluid tank. While under pressure you can bleed the brakes and clutch single handedly and very easily.
