This just went up for sale on Fantasy Junction, $300k seems a little low in today's market 1983 Ferrari 512 BBi for Sale
that's not fantasy junction, by the way. speaking of fantasy junction, I hold them in the highest regard.
Correction : San Francisco Sport Cars. We are lucky in the Bay Area to have both so I look at them daily. Apologies for the mix up.
Mileage is a little high, but asking $300k, one assumes that they would sell for $280k or less. Recent prices:- RM Paris, Feb 2015 83 BBi, 19k miles, 263k euro * 1.13 (exchange rate in Feb) = $297k RM Arizona Jan, 2015, 79 BB, 23k km, $335k Bonhams Arizona 2015, 82 BBi, 8550 miles, $357k
I agree. A little overpriced for the miles and the condition. On a good note, whoever owned that car defiantly enjoyed driving it.
Have you seen or driven the car? Most cars in Europe have this mileage. I have more mileage on my Boxer and it looked better than most with 1/4 the mileage. Sorry but if you buy the odometer you are in for a shock when you figure out what it takes to make it stop working. As Dick Fritz said to the PO of my car "you probably have the most truthful mileage of Boxers in the US" I'm not saying this car is worth 300K or whatever, but it needs to be seen, driven and evaluated based on facts not guesses.
Good day All, Just adding documentation... Car has a BAR sticker too! sounds like a good driver quality car. the description indicates a recent service so that is of value. the copy also states the car received a platinum award...that I would question. $300k may be a fair price for the condition.
Don't forget the 78 512 BB that went for $382,000 from Artcurial. 512 prices seemed to be steadily on the rise. We will have to see what Amelia Island brings. You look at the number of 512 adds on Hemmings. There are two 512 BBs up for auction at Amelia Island and Wayne Carrini's 512 BBi. Low supply and high demand means rising prices. The way prices are trending I did not expect to see a 512 priced under $325,000, unless it was extremely needy. Amelia Island will give an indication where prices are going. Do we finally see a 512 sell for over $400,000 or do the prices remain between $325,000 and $350,000.
I would suspect that if we were to see thoroughly documented, restored boxers such as cars done by paul newman come to market, they would command more money than those we have recently seen...think 4 handle.
I've seen asking prices over 400 in rare cases. I think 400 will be the going price by Summer for a Good car...
+1. I know when I was looking and since, there is significant evidence that few Boxers, and Ferraris in general, are showing mileage far under what is actually driven. I would love to hear from Brian Crall, he is a terrific mechanic and since the car was under his care he would be the best to discuss value/condition. At first blush, the price seems not unreasonable at all to me.
Hello All, the car appears to need a simple vacuum here and there. What category would the Platinum award be in? Maybe a Preservation Class? If so, there's hope for my car yet!
I bought a CS from Brad Goldstone a couple years ago. Brad was a very nice guy and the deal went smoothly without any issue. Rob, can you elaborate a little more on your advise. Is this an isolated issue between SFSportscars and Fchat?
I don't know, I know what they did with FerrariChat, take it or leave it. Doesn't happen often and I don't say that much about dealers, so take it how you want.
Ok so you can not reveal what exactly happened, so can I assume that what ever happened can not be corrected and they won't be able to become a sponsor on this forum again or you can not reveal that either? Not exactly sure I understood your question unless you are trying to be sarcastic?
