What started with an offer to give a new friend (brother of a good friend) the BBi experience turned into an epic day for yours truly. Turns out this new friend is a notable photographer and artist. So it didn't take any arm twisting to convince me to agree for him to take some "shots" of the car on the drive. With his sister and brother in law as crew, clearing roadways, piloting shooting platforms, we started at 0'dark thirty to hit one of the great SoCal roads before the crowds took over and during the "golden hour." Attached are teaser photos of the pro and his subject. See the road in the background and imagine rowing through the gears up and down sections of open roadway. "William, I need you do it one more time, only at this point be at higher revs before upshift." Darn. "William, a little faster this time" Rats. "William, your car is loving this, like the mountains of Italy!" It's not the only one. It was a day spent in the sweet spot between 3k and 5k (maybe a little more). Did I say epic? 4 hours later, exhilarated and exhausted, we headed down the hill to sort through lots material. Photos and video. I have not seen any video, I have seen a few of the 500 shots. At least the digital ones. He took film as well. I will post shots, and hopefully video, once he gives me permission to air it to the public. What you see here are my lousy photos from my Blackberry. What he has sent me so far has blown my mind. Not trying to tease, just too impatient to wait to share the day with my friends here. william this has been a great day for your friend, for you and also for the car of course nice pictures
In my zest to post this thread, I neglected to underscore that no traffic laws were broken and we were most respectful of others with whom we shared the road. To further the point, there were several "spotters," cyclists, motorbikes, and autos throughout and we received almost unanimous thumbs up, smiles, nods, and even positive remarks from those we saw. As there was an avoidable tragedy a few days before on the roads close to where we were driving, I would rather not say specifically. It has recently been the subject of other controversy as well. Think San Gabriels. I had my misgivings when the photographer named the venue, however my concern was unwarranted. More to come soon!
Definitely not Ortega as most of Ortega is two way. Personally, I hate Ortega as I knew a few that were killed there. Hit sand and you are down before you blink, head-on with drunks and speeders are next cause. Look forward to more pics..
Can't wait to see more pix and video! You're running Carobu wheels? I'm looking to move to Malibu to be close to my sister w/in the next year or two. I've been on many of the local roads including a great drive to the Sequoias a number of years ago. I can't wait to get my Boxer to the left coast. John BTW...nice plate!
ok, I will try to remain calm and let you guys weigh in on what you see. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77TjIBddpVg&feature=youtu.be John, it would be incredible to have you and your Boxer in SoCal! You are close, these are Speedlines, shod with brand new Contis! Amazing.
I will get some of the shots Peter sent me up today, here is one. This was taken while under way, like much of the video when I was following him. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Good day William, That is one amazing video! I love it! Your car looked and sounded fantastic! Cheers, Sam
I don't know how to make this larger w/o making the file to big for Fchat to accept, so sorry for the quality. But I found this shot he took to be most dramatic. Thanks for all regarding the compliments. As mentioned earlier, I was just lucky enough to have my BBi be this guy's subject! Image Unavailable, Please Login
