It's slightly painful to watch to be honest, given that the lighter-yellow-thinner-cavalino is impossible to find new anymore. It's been superseded by the darker-yellow-fat-cavalino from the modern Ferraris. If you have the original light yellow ones, even if they're a little washed out, take them out carefully and keep put them aside in a nice box, you might want to put them back on someday, but don't drill them!
That looks a pretty drastic procedure, can't you just remove the wheels and push the caps out from the inside?
What's drastic about it? If they are not to be saved for some reason I just jam a screw driver through them and pop them out. Kind of like saying cutting up a cow to get a steak is drastic.
