There is a thread about driving fast in the Boxer, but I was not able to locate a thread about driving fast in a Testarossa. So how fast have you driven your testarossa? Would like to hear how quickly the TR gets up to speed, the speed other owners have reached in their TR and how stable (or unstable) the TR was at high speed. I have yet to drive my TR, but should have the car on the road very soon (the car is currently having a very thorough 30K mile service/min restoration). My prior 1985 USA version 308QV was very stable at all speeds and I was very impressed with how stable the car was while driving at high speeds. The feedback on the steering for the 308QV was amazing and had the best feedback of any car I have yet to drive.

fastest I ever was going with my TR koenig competition has been 352 km/h ( gps, the speedometer showed 375 km/h ) on the autobahn near frankfurt ( 4 lines and nearly no traffic ) and then the engine suddenly was stottering. rpm limiter in 5th was working.
but the car has been like a train on railes. perfect handling :)

TR's normally do not get over the 300 Km/h (GPS) .... I managed 310 (GPS) twice in the 512TR .... and of course on German Autobahn :)

Photo shows me and F40 guy at 260 Km/h on the Papenburg AMG track (Germany) on which world records were driven (+ 400 km/h Koenigsegg)

We were not allowed faster at that course :( ... nice experience...

At the end, when we entered the upper lane at 260, we could let go the steeringwheel and the cars drove around the long corners by themselves ... brrrrrrrrrrrr :)

have you been on the "big oval" with driftdagen.nl?

but: the test areal is not named with AMG. the owner is ATP ( automotive testing papenburg ) and the main and only shareholder is MBtech Group GmbH & Co. KGaA, Sindelfingen

when my competititon will be finished one day I would like to go to papenburg or to nardo ( italy ) going with the car more than 400 km/h. dream???

Interesting. My 308 GTSi felt like the front end was a little 'lite' at about 120-130 mph. Didn't have the spare tire in though, so .....

Only driven mine 120 mph (193 kph). Tires are 9 years old! More stable at 120 though than 65! The TR really hunkers down at higher speeds!

This thread is unfair for us who don't live in or near Germany. It's just not fair. Having said that, I had my 1991 up to 140 mph on the highway. Great touring car. Doesn't the TR top out at 171 mph when the speedo says 200?

I had my TR up to 130 MPH up in the mountains for a brief moment.
It was VERY early on a Sunday morning with no traffic.
My biggest concern was collecting any wildlife that may have entered the road way. (Deer mainly, but I would worry about hitting even a rabbit at that speed).

I find that the TR settles down and starts doing what it's designed to do at 100 MPH. The car feels well planted and smooth with no drama, of course it does get a bit exciting the faster you go...

Fisrt ferrari I ever drove was a Tr belonging to parents aquaintance, he literaly gave the keys to his new Tr to me a 21yo and said have fun. Took it up to an indicated 155. Also did a magnum Pi 90 degree peel out from a stop sign. Cant say I would give the keys to my hot car to a kid, but always rememebr that guy fondly.

Had the boxer up to an indicated 6k rpm which is apparently 160ish. As unstable as a countach but in a different way. The Ct felt very light in the front end and had a weave which needed countersteer, whereas the boxer felt slightly less than planted in the rear tracked straight but needed a very gentle hand. It felt like anything other than the most subtle and gentle of wheel movements could turn the car into a frisbee.

I had a 240Z that felt like that at 120 MPH.
A deep air dam in the front took care of that problem.
