Good day All, Just documenting these cars, as they come up... It's my car. It's a shame that there isn't a description to go with those photos. The car is all original and unrestored including the paint, interior and glass. The 14k kilometers are from new. I bought it from the original owner who bought it in France (hence the white turn signals and hex wheel nuts). He flew it home with him to Mexico City where it lived until I bought it almost two years ago. He had a relationship with Hollywood Sports Cars and had them fly a mechanic down annually to do service work on his car collection. I have books, original keys and fob, all original sales documentation, spare tire, jack kit and took kit. It is in original Euro specification and has never been federalized. After I bought it, I had it painstakingly serviced and sorted by Chris Dugan. It runs and drives phenomenally and has been approved for factory certification. The red book is being processed right now and is expected this time next month. I will be sad to see it go.
w/o the description of the previous post, the average bidder might very well assume the car is simply a well used boxer in need of cosmetics and mechanical work. the photos do not seem too flattering but the could very well show far better in the flesh. my advice to the seller would be to be insistent that a proper ownership and maintenance description is chronicled and done so soon! this actually sounds like a very special car with a very cool ownership history!!
RM will do a fine job with a description and yes, we are reshooting the car in a week or two. If I can these this with a Samsung smart phone, they can certainly do better and definitely will. Ian Kelleher at RM has been fantastic to work with on this consignment and many others for me. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Todd, sorry to hear this car is going, though I am sure you will make a very nice return. I saw this car in person at the Pasadena Concorso last month. I have to say it is the first time I have seen Blu Sera in person. Pictures do not do it justice, it is a stunning color in person, in the direct sunlight even better than indirect light (saw it in both over a few hours). For those who appreciate on original car with patina, Todd's would be a great candidate!
Thanks William. It's still mine for a few more months. Let's take the cars out for a long drive this summer.
I spent last Wednesday in Malibu with a much better photographer. I was dragging my feet on an interior cleanup, but I have to say I like the results. All interior materials are still original, but the seats benefitted from a major scrub, some repair and a little dye. The driving shots. The photographer, Mo Satarzedah, was hanging out the window of another car to get these great shots. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow, Todd, incredible shots! The only thing better than a Boxer is a Boxer in motion. Time for that drive! W
My "red book" arrived today and 24881 is officially Ferrari Classiche Certified. John Amette and Ferrari of Orange County were excellent to deal with during this process which began last September. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Your math is correct turbo-joe. In my case, the process was 10 months. With regards to expensive, the certification was 1.5% of what I believe to be the current value of my car.
What did they do for 60 -75k? Rebuild the engine, redo interior, repaint car? I'm serious did they address issues on the chassis (rust spots, chips, ect) which are evident in the photos or just say that the chassis is original and never bent.
I too went thru this process for my Barchetta (550) when purchased Jan. 2012. Dealer was Cont. Autosport Chicago....cost me 4500 usd and took approx 3 months. Worth the effort?, who knows, but seemingly a "must-have" in today's market if looking to sell. Great looking car btw & glws, Jack
