$203,000 in 1992..blue chiaro 512TR

Seems like a great car for someone.

I'm sure you can appreciate the level of detail someone put into this 512tr.

 

That's a beautiful color and looks like to be a clean car. I'm not too crazy about the advertisement revealing all the previous owners, and their motives - ie. registering in FL because the fees were cheaper but residing in Arizona.

ps. what is the asking price?

 

203k and it's not even 'numbers matching'? I would have thought that the fact it's not the original engine would hurt its value!

Absolutely the interior 512 TR has the sticky issue. It's everywhere. Robbie from Stickynomore did countless interior pieces from my old 512 TR almost 7 years ago.

 

They're asking 425K, yes $425,000. I called and asked them about it a few days ago.

Try checking the prices of any Vintage Ferrari w/o an original motor- They suffer significantly

This car looks Great and probably is, but I think down the road when you subtract the hype and marketing, someone may have a hard time justifying the price of his vintage car

This car's ask is way beyond the top of the market for these cars, and even further beyond it's true value.

And btw- What dealer would have a TR motor sitting on it's shelf???- I caught that as rather odd about the description

 

Well it was "fortunate". I think they could have left the whole engine swap completely out and no one would have bothered to ask. Honest yes but they'll be paying for it now.

 

There was a Chiaro / Tan 512 for sale with a full light tan dash for sale in FL back in 2012? I really wanted to grab it but nope, life had other plans.

But back to my question, how does a buyer know they are looking at the original engine. It is stamped somewhere in the owners manual?

 

What's it's true value?

Bruce Canepa knows the mkt, he is always a bit ahead of it but he knows the mkt and is an expert in his field. I'm also surprised at the price rise, but I think it reflects the true "value" of the car. The TR group has jumped up fast to "true value" IMHO and the prices will most likely go sideways at these valuations for a while just like the Daytona's and the Dino, and the other collector F cars.

The Market has spoken on the last 92 and 94 that have sold in the 330k range, we will see what happens with this car. Again BC knows what he is doing.

Hmmmmmm - I called a few months ago and he said it sold over a year ago.

 

I inquired when this car was in Seattle and Sheehan had it for sale. Before new engine. It was less than $100k as I recall.
