Agreed. Prices looking nice since I joined this forum in 1943. Ha. The trick is to have 2: one that is Collectible and one that is .... Mondial! I swear, I get a whole lot of satisfaction of just letting anyone climb into the driver's seat of the Mondi. I let an 18 year old drive it around a parking lot a few weeks ago. Nice guy; parents were terrified. Stalled it and did horrible things with the throttle and clutch. He learned. I smiled.
It was listed at $475k a week ago. Now listed at $395k. A good deal for a fully restored and serviced low mileage car? Anybody knows why the price drop so quick. It was only listed for a couple weeks or less at $475k.
Because the dealers are rtying things out. Seems like 512BBs and BBIs are in reality 290-350K cars, or 50% of a Daytona, which ahs been their traditional pricing zone for the past 20 years.
They have another bbi which they will deferalize the bumpers and do an engine out but higher mileage and seems not as nice but currently asking 425K (after the conversion and full service). Seems inconsistent with the drop in price of the other car.
Just last year they sold a really nice black one for 230k in a few days. The sk was lower na dpeople bid it up. Maybe this time they asked too much and are trying to find the market.
For a good car the market is $325 to $425K (basket cases and perfect cars excluded) depending on service / level of work needed.
so then 395 is probbably not too high or too low an ask. Sad part for someone who enjoys the driving part is that insurance getting expensive because of value.
My insurance is $1400 a year for $400K of coverage and no restrictions. I was surprised! I recently dropped hagarty who wanted $2800 for the same coverage.
Its called Vintage Auto insurance. They are in Woodstock ontario, Jason Wilson is the guy to talk to.
