Thoughts on gold vs silver. Best on a red car in my opinion. Im debating running gold wheels on my BB, thoughts? Then the next question is whats the paint code for an old race car with gold wheels?

👍 love red with gold. Really like the coffin wheels in gold too. Only with center spline drive.

Car is sooo gorgeous, it'd look great with wooden wagon wheels! :)

Silver & gold both look great. Gold has that cool early 60's race car look, while silver always reminds me of show cars. Again, both work.

I also like the look of gold wheels on a Ferrari, especially the 308 with gold coffin wheels! I thought that I had a picture, I will post it up once I find it.

I checked before because of the color number for the gold paint.
nobody until now could tell me. one painter in my near mixes this color sometimes but he not tells me how :(, also this I have seen from him has been to dark.
    so going on looking

Like the gold wheels. Gives the car a very vintage Ferrari race-look. Those coffin wheels are fantastic looking. I'm sure Jim G. would know, as his P car has gold wheels.

+1 - that red and that gold are very pleasing together IMO (although can't say that I can recall seeing those gold colored wheels on anything but a red car -- maybe on a medium/dark green or blue, it would be a nice combination too). I wouldn't give a penalty for any model F with that correct dark gold color on the wheels, but there is so much silver in the center attachment hardware of the BB wheels that that's a minor clash in my color palette (and the lighting in that photo minimizes the bright silver -to- matte gold difference) -- but that's JMO (and it's like criticizing Venus de Milo for not having any arms ;))...

I think all black (not satin black on bottom, but gloss top and bottom) with gold wheels is a very good look.
I may, however, be channelling the John Player Special Lotus from the 70s!

Hi Newman thats actually my car with the gold wheels you have there i have the NACA ducts on the front bumper but i made the decision to return wheels to silver only for originality sake they also look somehow fresher in Silver to me.

Hi Newman...I always wanted to do my Boxer wheels in gold as some of the race cars, but couldn't find a color code. I think a red Boxer w/ gold wheels would look great! The other problem has been having the silver-painted wheels bubbling and deteriorating over time. The last paint job only lasted about a year. My shop tells me that the have a new process using some other process to base-coat the wheels before applying the paint. Gotta find out how to attach a pic of my green '82 Scirocco w/ gold wheels. I REALLY loved that combo...

Not only is a Boxer like a box of chocolates, with never knowing what you get...but life is like a roll of toilet paper...going faster as you get near the end of the roll. ;(

Hope this works... The original wheels were Ronal 5-spokes and I had the color matched for the Monocoque wheels on my E-prepared Auto-X car.

El Wayne's post above illustrates my opinion better than I can describe it.

I love the gold, but only if the center hub/spinner is not silver. All gold is just too cool, gold with the silver center is less preferable than all silver.

    In my humble opinion! :)
