I am looking for another TR, preferably a '91....this one is on Ebay today...does anyone know anything about the car? "Recent" service was done "recently" in 2009...lol.

Getting some mixed signals on this one....just curious if anyone has seen it or knows anything about it. Thanks.....

The seller did an outstanding job prepping the car for the pictures. What are your concerns, bad vibes from the seller? Seller wont allow a PPI?

Those are some beautiful pictures. I'm pretty sure the seller is not hiding things since the pictures were pretty extensive, but curious why there were no pictures of the engine bay. Of course all of that will come out in a PPI anyway.

She looks nice.. The only flag for me is on the repair invoice when it states do not let car sit in damp storage. I would be curious what he means by that. Did he have to do some extensive clean up of mold or mildew? Rust issues? Wonder how the suspension components look especially the top of the shock absorbers. The seals on the intake look shot.. They are all cracked and out of shape.. Wouldn't be surprised if there is some sort of vacuum leak. Body exterior and interior look good. Driver seat bolster can be fixed. I/m 50/50 on the wheels but that would not deter me away. Don't keep in damp storage throws me for a loop. Would be curious to see if this mechanic puts this warning on all receipts as some sort of disclaimer? If not then somehow there is or was an issue. Still not a deal breaker but would be nice to know so if something else does come up your not chasing the goose..

PPI is a great idea but don't put so much stock in them.. They miss stuff.. A real PPI should include a review of all service records, previous owner info, interviews with prior owners about the cars and their service history, discussions with mechanics that worked on the car (even though it would be touch to remember a car you worked on years ago, you just never know what info you can obtain). These PPI's are good but they could be better.. Much better.. But the downside is they would cost more.. much more.

He goes on to say that the the damp storage can cause rust on the tensioner bearings and contribute to belt failure.

Car had a service 6 years ago at 17k miles and needed rotors resurfaced but not pads? Has a lot of surface rust under the hood and needed calipers rebuilt? Sounds like salt exposure to me. It also needed a clutch at 17K miles? The seat leather at bolster has a lot wear for 17k miles and the tool kit is missing. Car has not been well treated. I service better cleaner cars that need less and have had less lifetime service at higher miles routinely.

Not feeling it. There's better out there.

I think mel means the distance above the bumper? this looks to me also a little bit large, but it is adjustable

The gaps are off on mine and yes, the bumper is adjustable.
IIRC, the bonnet can be tweaked as well.
Just not a high priority to fix at the moment.
    It's a driver.
    No big deal.

    Don't worry.
I'll go around the entire car with feeler gauges when I get it back from service.;)

Supposedly, with no reserve and bidding now over $120k, it will sell in the next four hours. This is a good one to watch for people wondering where the U.S. TR market stands, even if the seller suddenly ends it and doesn't allow it to go. VERY clean car, well presented, late model, low miles, one-owner, but gaudy wheels and more than six years since the major was performed. High bid on this one should represent something nearing the upper end of the market, adjusted $12k-15k or so for the major and wheels.
