94 Euro TR service but we knew it had other issues like leaking head gaskets. Not sure why ferrari decided to go to a smaller head stud (about 2mm smaller in diameter) than the previous flat 12's but it wasn't an improvement.

I pulled the heads to replace the gaskets and replaced the timing case gasket as well. Interesting to see the TR timing case gaskets pushed out but not a problem typically found on a boxer flat 12. You can see the patch job that was done in the past to keep a leak at bay.

Gearbox was rebuilt and painted in the past so I cleaned it and left it as it was, replaced the leaking axle seals but thats it.

Painted intake runners, plenums and valve covers. Plated hardware as per original.

Was the head or block severely warped?

No just corroded and my understanding is that ferrari dropped the head re-torque step during the service since the procedure is torque to yield. The final torque value is lower than the Testarossa. I dont understand why they felt a torque to yield method with a smaller stud was a step in the right direction. if it isn't broke dont fix it.

These pics are great, showing how seals can move. I will soon have my engine out later this year. It looks great when it's all cleaned up!

What did you use to clean the block?

Did you repaint the runners and valve covers? If so, what do you use?

Will you ever document a diff upgrade?

I used a few things to clean it. Started with WD40 with the block standing in a plastic tub I use to degrease things like gearboxes and other big items that I dont want to (or cant) pressure wash with water. Then I used a product called superclean followed by brake clean. Used a toothbrush too.

Yes I painted the valve covers, plenums (only the silver part) and the runners. I didn't remove the texture just pressure washed the parts which removed some loose paint from the valve covers.

    Yes I will!
