    Need a battery for my 89TR. The battery in there now is a Group 24 which I know is not correct, it doesn't even fit in there correctly, plus the hold down bracket is missing.
    What is the correct battery group # and will an Optima 34R fit?

    Last summer I put a DieHard 34R in my TR. Model # 50733. Fits fine.

    I have TR stock as a Group 47 (note how the terminals are recessed down slightly from the top surface in the TR SPC illustration on Tav 56), but a Group 34R has the same basic terminal layout as the others noted (and is a little bit bigger battery so is probably a little bit better for reliable starting, but adds weight -- for full disclosure, I've got a Group 34 in mine as I had just replaced what was in there before -- I'd go Group 34R now that I know, but my last one lasted 12 years ;)).

    I put Optima 34R in my 512TR just a month back. Fit perfectly.
