I took these photos [of the TR] in September 1985 in the car park at a club meeting at the old Ingliston circuit near Edinburgh in September 1985.

I had a 30" enlargement done and it became my teenage bedroom wall poster car!

The rear window sticker reads 'Bovis Ecurie Ecosse' so I have assumed that it was probably owned by Hugh McCaig, the team principal.

It must have been one of the very first cars delivered to the UK and I can still recall the thrill of seeing it

I wonder what became of the car?

    Wow!

The car looks like it`s been teleported to 1985 from the future when you look at the other cars in that 3rd pic!

Yeah I wonder if it`s still around and where....It will make someone happy if it`s theirs.

I`d love to find pics of mine from it`s early years!

    Love period photos.
Interested to see the roof aerial on my ex (I sold it last month) '85 Testarossa looks identical to the one fitted to the TR you photographed back in September 1985.
I always thought it had been fitted more recently but maybe all early UK TR had these distinctive roof aerials fitted from new..

Did the aerial survive your epic journey to Morocco, Harry??

    Hi Harry,

I'm sorry to hear you sold the Testarossa.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Even in episodes of Miami Vice, all the cars around the Testarossa on the road just look like ugly boxes. It really was ahead of it's time.

I've seen a few now with the ariels but still a few without too.

The only thing I noticed is that some of them are mounted a bit further back than others, so still can't imagine it being factory.

Were the radios installed at the factory or back at the dealers? If so maybe depending on the install, some fitted the ariels?

While the radio antenna was in the windshield, the Testarossa never came with a radio "head unit". The antennas on the roof are for in car cell phones.

Since they were very expensive back then, it would have been prestigious to prominently display the fact you had a car phone.

    Ah so it's not an antenna - it's a radiation booster :p

They should have lead sheilding in the roof!

Just a suggestion on the antennas. As these seem to be specific to the UK its maybe to do with the Radio frequencies being slightly different???? I used to work in the car audio industry and some cars with built in antennas did need either boosters or them to be swapped to work well.
