"...At speed, around corners, it feels on edge (with a big 12 cylinder engine behind you) alive like no modern car and just a little bit dangerous – it has no traction control of any kind, apart from the driver. And the howl when you take those lightweight pistons towards the top of the rev range is properly frightening – you feel this is why they made the car. Even idling, you are always aware of those two angry mastiffs behind you – I keep wondering if a superbike is dawdling by the rear three quarter flank of my car, only to realise it’s my own engine." Love it!
Totally true about Roger and his invoicing ..... i just cant get him to take my money!! Great write up Darius, perfectly describes the thrill of driving one of these Faboulous 12 cylinder beauties...... does the very thing a Ferrari should .... makes the driver feel very special! BR, Jez
Absolutely Jez. I think I remember every minute I have spent in that car. It's exciting. I will see Roger on Friday by the way. I'll send your regards to your beautiful cars..
Very cool article. I enjoyed the the feeling of anticipation and excitement you described in waiting to see the car. While, not a Diablo owner anymore, you should test out a Diablo VT Roadster. It's like a TR but on steroids. Raw, visceral and packs a punch that will throw you back in your seat. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice!
I'll put up a link when I'm back on my computer but my Lamborghini was totalled in a recent accident. Some guy in his 80's came straight out of a side road and T-boned me right in the passenger side. I'm selling the Testarossa only because I want just one over the top car....and that car for me is a Lamborghini . I just didn't have the time to chase after two. I just don't know how these collector guys do it. Where's the time? lol Shamile Freeze. ...Miami Vice! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
Haha....just put on a gold chain and a black silk shirt (both come in the Lamborghini tool kit) and you'll feel like you just grew lots of chest hair. Seriously though, I think you'll be impressed with the Diablo. I'd like to hear your comparison as a journalist.....in today's paddle shift, traction control era. Shamile Freeze. ...Miami Vice! Congrats Darius, super article, not easy to describe what kind of monster we got in the back seats ! Please pass Roger my best, my 512 TR is with him right now waiting for the paper to be completed before coming home. Ciao.
I think I saw your car yesterday Lucio. (See my post in the 550/575 forum) Looks like a beautiful one. See you soon and thank you.
Forza Service in the Netherlands have a brace of 1995 LHD Rosso Corsa with Nero hide 512Ms in stock, both with similar low mileages and only the colour of the carpets to differentiate them (Rosso or Nero). The asking price appears to be Euro 339k for each. How much for the pair! Forza Selezione
Two 512Ms in one dealer is a real catch! They look quite nice at a glance, though they forgot to post images of the interior of the first, lower mileage one. Prices are not crazy compared to what's going down in the US.
