Hi all, My BB512i had some modifications done by the first owner. I thought it was after market but my dad told me those were original Ferrari parts sold for those who wanted wider wheels. The dimensions are the same of those from a Countach which enables me to fit pirelli tires. The wheels look like stock BB wheels excepts smaller and wider. They also carry Ferrari markings. I also have a modified front spoiler, and you can see that the lights on the bumper are missing. Anyone else heard of these kits? Regards, Julien Image Unavailable, Please Login
I believe Koenig in Germany and Emblem in the UK are the manufacturers of these kits in the 80's. Ferrari in my opinion never sold them to his customers. The also fitted turbocharged engines to those boxers, 308's and even Testa Rossa's. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That s what I thought at first, but the wheels look like nothing from Koenig (thank god) and look very Ferrari like. With what looks like genuine Ferrari markings. My dad said those where for sale at Ferrari dealers so I thought someone might have heard of this if it is true. I must say I am skeptical as well but he is very knowledgeable about cars. My mechanic knows some people at Maranello and will enquire there...
They look quite like mine indeed. I believe I also saw them on a BB LM car once, although they are usually seen with gold colored wheels Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
From time to time, this topic comes up. Not that I am the definitive authority on Boxers (despite 20+ years of Boxer ownership), but I have yet to see any official documentation indicating there were factory optioned cars in this manner. It is possible that dealers did some modifications at the behest of their customers. It is also possible that SpA had a couple of special customers that they accommodated somehow. But, there's plenty of "factory-built" claims that are never substantiated. So, until I see it in writing, from SpA, I'd be suspicious of any claim that this is factory-built or modified. The Campy's were on the earlier BBLMs (Series I cars). CW
Many people look at anything non factory as sinful. I think they are great if properly done (Koenig for example). Adds some spice to the usual fare. I think that car looks wicked !
