What I found to do to make it better are the following:
    1) once f chatters advise, paint the front good hinges and edges of overspray
    2) both seat belt retractors and loose and one has to assist the belts to retract fully towards the end - will take retractors out to see if
I can lubricate internals and wind up a little tighter.
    3) dash openings by w/s for defrost - fabric has pulled
Away from defrost openings. Going to try to heat up, stretch, and reglue. Fabric has not
Ripped, rather looks like adhesive has worn out.
    4) got that 2nd gear stickyness till gearbox warms up.
    5) need new tires. While very good tread, production date is 35th week 2002. Will leave this part until spring as using for one week and than storage for winter
    6) source spare tire and rim - missing
    7) remove single high mirror, patch up holes, install double low mirrors. JUST KIDDING!

hahahahahah #7 is way to much work! I know there are a host of reasons for the 2nd gear issue but before I did my major service this year I replaced the shift shaft bushings which did make a significant difference after readjusting everything. There are numerous posts on here about them and fellow Fchatter Verrel sells a very reasonable replacement with a tool for installation.

i think the overspray is normal. also it looks like you have the 16 inch wheels too. Mine is 64925 and I have the metric wheels. What month was yours built?

Picked up the old girl this morning. Have to say that a totally different experience than my 77 308. The tr is much more professional in demeaner, steering is a little lighter, and definitely more umph.....not like my AMG 6.3 which is modern, rather a bruteness.
What I really liked was the transmission. Initially it was sticking but now now this was because of lack of use. After 5 minutes it is now smooth and sharp shifting. Minor item is that in my 308 I could let the clutch out fully before giving throttle. With the tr I find you have to feather a little by giving about 100 rpm during the engagement of the plates. I usually like to let clutch out before giving gas as this makes less stress.
Overall quite pleased with the car. Going to drive it another two weeks and make a list of items to work on over winter. One immediate thing I found out immediately in getting into the car, other than there is no graceful way of plopping down on the seat, is that I need to carry slim shoes. My wingtip dress shoes were, shall we say, obese for the function of throttle manipulation.
In my younger days used to mentally make fun of old f--rts driving these type of cars. Now that I am N old f-art, I mentally advise the youth that they need to wait their turn.

Vince you are just discovering the beast that is hidden in the TR. Give it a good try in 3rd gear and you'll be amaze how they pull good up to VERY fast and you still have two more gears. In comparision the 360 I drove was like a kid trying to work with a real man. They have the same HP but they deliver it in a totally different way. The TR is a lot of a car.
