Hello, I have a 1985 TR and it does not go into any gear smoothly. I don't think I need to change the clutch because it doesn't slip and I can launch just fine. I changed the master cylinder already and it got a little bit better but it is still pretty hard to get it into any gear and the longer you drive it, the worse it gets. Can someone give me any other advice to fix this problem???

They are very fussy about shifter adjustment both internal and external to the transmission.

For one thing, the path of the internal shifter needs to perfectly match the path defined by the shift gate.

All that assumes the clutch is not dragging.

How long have you owned the car? Was anything done to the clutch lately. Was it like this when you bought it? Like RIFLEDRIVER said it could be a draging clutch. I had a very similar problem and a new and properly installed clutch solved the problem.

With that I replaced the lubricant with Redline NS and it felt like a new car.

I had adjusted the shifter linkage before with a sligthly better result but not enough.

    Good luck!

I bought the car a year ago, all i did was change the master cylinder. The first 5 minutes when you start driving the car are decent but after that it is so bad where i have to just leave it in 2nd gear. Nothing was done to the car when I bought it. It was sitting for a while so I need to do a full service. I also bled the clutch which only worked temporarily

I was having an issue where the pedal was getting stiffer as you drove it. We changed the flexible hydraulic line and it solved the problem.
