Nice sidebar, but I'm still not selling. Best F-car driving experience for the money (still), IMHO. Thanks for sharing. Sent by incredibly fast electrons
Thanks for the post Personally, I'd STILL rather have the car than the money. mine's still NOT for sale! perhaps a figure north of 400 for a '90 might make me pause - but 'till then, the car is WAY MORE FUN THAN MONEY! rgds, Vincenzo
Agree with you Vincenzo ! Big article in the main Dutch paper: Bubble is OVER ! TR's will soon be back at K$50 they think. And of course that counts for all F cars and other idiot prices ...
But I thought we were about to enter the days of $50K TRs? That's what I read on this very forum last week!!!!!! Oh, how my hopes for a couple of cheap TRs to grace my garage have been dashed!!!! Woe is me (and my garage)!!! Sid P.S. - you all realize I'm kidding? right?
Mel, do I recall correctly that you sold your (beautifully photographed) 512TR last year, just before the 'bubble' that you now say is over, started, with prices around 50-60% of what they are now for excellent cars like yours? Does that have anything to do with your description of today's prices as 'idiot'? Thank again for the 512M material btw, using some of the images in our next GQ story.
I'm not really a TR fan, but they were developed with the US market as a major concern; AC which worked, reliability, comfortable, and many other things. The cars sold well and growing up on Long Island, I saw quite a few of them in thd 80s. However, when new they were extremely expensive and it takes a pristine example to near the price of when they were new, adjusting for simple inflation. So the car cost as much now as when new, if perfect. So many cars are 10X the price of when new, so I really don't get the whole, they are idiotic prices rant.
Not sure what you're implying. I do have a 512bbi, so I do have an affinity for the flat 12s. I'm saying that at current prices they are equal to when new and that it is hard to say prices are stupid. If I liked TRs I would have had one of those, it's just a personal preference for me. Don't be so touchy, I'm backing the price rise, not saying they are over priced.
just came across this during my weekly market browsing...after reading this it seems almost worth it! Used 1993 FERRARI TESTAROSSA 512TR 512 TR SERVICED for sale in PENNINGTON, NJ | Interstate Motorsport
Just a few years ago we all kept hearing about the mythical "TR prices in the $30k range" but we never really knew anyone who actually bought one for that. You could maybe get a parts car in the $35k range but that's about it. However I can report that at one point I did by a very good running TR for under $40k. I'm happy to see that values are going up and the TR is finally getting the credit it has long deserved. At the same time I'm VERY sad that I no longer have a TR - and I kick myself on a daily basis. Hang on to those TRs guys...
you can have a bigger number on a bank accout.... but it earns you squat. you can have a bigger number on a stock report.... but these days, you're losing your shirt. you can have a TR in your garage... a thing of beauty, the sound of passion, 'driving' becomes 'an event' no worries - just smiles oh, and it appreciates. no brainer rgds, vincenzo
Damn, that is incredibly beautiful. It would definitely stand out in a sea of red. Sent by incredibly fast electrons
