made a degree wheel... based on a 16" from Competition Cams

had to bore out the wheel's bushing to match the 18x1.5 threaded rod

another shot of the crank stop - adjustable for both depth and angle

mostly hand cut gear teeth that match the flywheel

    works great!

Made a simple mount from 5mm plate today for the Starrett dial indicator that is mounted on a Noga magnetic mount. Some extensions from "Anytime Tools" lets me reach down the bore.

The plate was flame cut - I need more practice!

    Tomorrow, the measurements start!

    rgds,
    Vincenzo

I did that exact same thing when I rebuilt my fuel distributors! Glad to see I'm not the only one who has done that! :)

all put together it looks like this:

UNFORTUNATELY, the tip must be set at a specific orientation to reach the valve shim just right. It leaves the dial indicator gauge at an awkward angle - the iPad focused on the face while in selfie mode helped me see the dial while rotating the crank!

If the dial indicator is not in line with axis it will not read correct. Hypotenuse.

The indicator stem is very closely in line with the valve stem and not the piston bore. The pics do not show that very well. The Noga lets you move it into any orientation that is needed.
