'Bout time you upgraded from that F40 Congratulations on your purchase, I hope it gives you many, many miles of driving pleasure.
Cheers guys... Yes my first Testarossa and in Australia It was sitting in a collection so it runs rough so I've organised a major service and some recommissioning to get back on track.
congratulations. (Was the photo was taken in Cromwell Street Collingwood ?) Now I know there are at least 2 RHD monospecchio Testarossa's in Melbourne.
Haha you're good Chief! now I've taken it to Sydney and started the work on it. Could someone please help, I'm searching for an original radio so I've come across the following; Clarion E970, Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 04, Pioneer KEH-8830...
I knew that was somewhere in Melbourne. There were no original radios factory installed unless you mean a "period" radio
Pretty much yes, period correct but would prefer to have the exact radio that the dealer would've fitted to the car if anyone here has a similar spec 85 model car?
My TR has the Pioneer KEH-8830 - and the original Pioneer warranty card. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I see you own multiple classics, were you specifically looking for a single mirror car? Congrats! and don't listen to the guys with those stupid looking double mirror testa's with the 5 lugs Jeff
That`s lovely - I loved my `86 Flying mirror - it was just the right mix of retro and modern. I think the non mirror side has such a clean look. I don`t think there`s any official info on how many RHD flying mirrors were produced - but a number you used to see in adverts was around 70 - although I think that would be UK RHD flying mirror - not world wide. They made 430(ish) UK RHD out of around 7000 total - and I think I saw 700 or 10% world wide RHD mentioned? If you look here Red Headed - Testarossa you can work out that probably 1200-1500 of the 7000 were flying mirror (depending on how far through `86 they changed to low mirrors). So (just an educated guess) - if 10% again of those total flying mirror`s were RHD it would be 120-150. Could be a bit more or a bit less but would around 100 total left now seem realistic? Hope you have some fun once it`s sorted - they`re such a relaxed but enjoyable drive! Dominic
Thanks guys, yes I've only wanted an early Testarossa hence why I've never bought one till now. Thanks for the Pioneer info as that is the radio that I've just ordered. I've also read that the Clarion E970 was one too so I bought one of those as well...
You have good taste! Congrats! I see you have chrome logo on the rear grille, so do I. From what I read up to now, seems like it's supposed to be black. So, who can tell me if its black or chrome coming out of the plant in 85? And if its black why so many chrome ones on early models like ours? TIA
In '85 was black and flat. Late in TR production it changed to black but sculpted. 512TR/F512M changed to the sculpted chrome. Easy to change without modification, many like the chrome look that Ferrari eventually changed to on the later models.
Mmmmm... Well, there's another 86 in the "for sale" section with a chrome one...Just wondering...Could someone with another opinion chime in?
