No affiliation: 1981 Ferrari 512BB For Sale - Extremely Original, Numbers Matching, Fully Doc'd Looks like a nice car.
It does look nice and thankfully they hogged the holes in the bumpers for the volare marker lights during the DOT conversion rather than the clamshells
Of course I am biased but that seems like a fair ask price for such a nice, unmolested car. A year ago the ask would have been $450k I imagine.
This BB came out of Brussels originally. I tried to buy it over the last 3 years. The price started at $125...then moved up, up and away!!!!
Tough owner to deal with, but he genuinely loved his Ferrari's. I believe he has a 330GTC for sale, and recently sold his Daytona S
I don't understand how a BB can be federalized, then de-federalized, and still retain all original paint and not have had any molestation to the body. Beautiful car though
It was modified/fed by a Philadelphia company, then the owner returned it to "euro" specs etc. (then promptly drove it almost never lol)
Depends on who did it. Some turned a blind eye. My 84 had crash bars in the doors and my 79 had the tail lights reversed. Others got butchered. This black one has the side lights, no doubt crash bars in the doors but the bumper area looks untouched. So it slipped through with minor mods.
It needs the federalization mandated U.S. style long side marker light removed from the front and rear bumpers. I guess the holes can be filled, although it is sad that both bumpers will now need to be repainted.
incredibly nice car- a deal is already pending! Cars like this just don't come up very often. You can't be napping if you want a car like this! Imported to Canada, it would also have to be reimported back into the USA. Kind of a bad deal there but just more money for a really nice car.
Price seems low if it is as good as it looks. Someone will have made a very good buy in the long term. But it would be tough not to drive it!
Totally agree, I think it was priced right and in the long run, this car will make someone some money. I think this car has msdesignltd's name all over it ! He could get the thing looking like a fricking mirror, and do the same thing he's doing with his 512. This car really caught my eye, with just 1200 miles and just so nice. BUT it takes some real will power to NOT drive these cars. Or a different way of looking at things. I recently bought a three year old 458 spider with 2500 miles on it. In Five months i've tripled the mileage. I'm not rich, I still work for a living, and I realize it's going to drop like a rock at some point. But just like having a beautiful wife, if all you do is LOOK at it, you're missing out. So the person that bought this car originally, had it for 25 years and drives it 1200 miles. So it isn't selling for TOO much more than a car that say has ten thousand miles on it. To have 150K tied up for 25 years, it's not like the original owner even made any money. If the same money had been invested in real estate in California or even Oregon, it would have tripled. I don't get it. YES it is a pain in the butt to keep a car looking perfect, driving it sure makes it difficult. Getting stuck in a rainstorm and getting water spots all over your car is a pain. But not driving it is akin to having Charlotte McKinney as your wife, and sleeping in separate bedrooms.
I this car is as good as it looks and only 1500 miles, then the barely running BBIs needing evryhtign after long term storage at 350k in 2014 were clearly the auction peak. Or put anothr way a great running low mielage BBi hit a peak of 400k at auction. We have no diea what this car will sell for but its ask of 395k for a great BB seems to indibcate a great 10-20kmile BBi must now be below 300k actual sale more like 250-300k. Markets off 25-30% from peak. We can see the same thing with tetarossas where good ones 20-30k miles actualy sell now for under 100k.
You seem to be inferring a lot based on the ask price of one car. It seems that there was a deal on this car quickly after listing. How can you compare Testarossa to BBs given significant difference in production numbers?
Good day All, Although this is only one ad, it does indicate that there appear to be Boxers for just over $250K USD (asking) in what appears to be not bad condition. been repainted not that well. I would say its a restoration car with new shiney paint. Or a 350k car once done right
