I've found a difference in filler necks for boxers and need some feedback from owners if possible. There are 4 different necks. 365, early 512, mid 512 carb then injected. All different.

For those that have a 76-78 BB512 I want to know if you have the mandrel bent pipe or the mitre cut pipe. My thought is the clamshell left side square tube for the left row of louvers is relieved to clear the mandrel bent type of neck introduced late 78 whereas the 77 with the mitred neck would have a non-relieved left side tube in the clamshell. Or Im completely wrong but I do know 78 was the last year of the mitre cut neck and 79 was mandrel.

If anyone has left side (underside) pics of a 76 -78 512 clam near the filler door that would be much appreciated as well as the filler neck.

    Thanks!

I am restoring 512BB Chassis 23583 and I also would like confirmation on this as well.
the car is a 1978, No 42 in the build run.
So if anybody out there in boxer land has a car with a chassis number close to mine, it would be very helpful if you can post a photo of the fuel filler neck please.

I have found that some where between 23527 and 24641 ferrari did the change.
hopefully some one on here can help to pinpoint when in 1978, and what chassis was the last with the cut filler.
First Pic is 23527, reportedly a 78 car same filler as your car Sam.
Second Pic 24641 also a 78 car but with the mandrel bent filler that most are used to seeing on the BB. So still the question is when. we need chassis numbers and dates.
    Cheers

    Good day All,

Here is the filler neck from 23025 which is reported to be a November 1977 Car. From the welded seam and angle it would appear to be a Mitre style neck.

    Cheers,

    Sam
