Jacking and Jack Stand Points - bbi

There are several exposed frame members at each end of the car. Pick a point that will not be in the way of what you are doing.

If you raise the rear high first you will not be able to get a jack under the front. Start at the front or lift the rear a little then do the front.

Jacking at the trans housing freaks people out. It has been done since they were new cars and I have never seen a problem. The cross members that are accessible are not strong enough and will be damaged so the alternative is to use 2 jacks, one at each longitudinal frame member. The front has a jacking point in the form of a hook or plate in the center front that bolts through the bodywork to the frame.

 

There is a jack point on each side of the car, below the rear of the door opening approx. If you jack it there, it will lift the entire side and you can put a jack stand in the front and back. You may need a small chock of wood to fit between the two metal protutions about two inches apart. Works great.

 

Are you talking about the aluminum structure that is the lower part of the bell housing and attaches to the rear motor mounts?
