on my 512tr I have a slight oil leak from where the gearbox selector shaft enters the casing at front of gearbox . is this a difficult seal to replace....would it be better to wait for an engine out service....

I have done those in the car. It is not that big a deal. I depends on how much it bothers you and how far away taking the engine out is. In my opinion it is in some ways easier when the engine is in the car.

I've done it both ways. I don't think it's any easier or harder in the car. If it's coming out soon just wait. if not, it takes about 1 to 2 hours to complete. I prefer to do a bit of fine tuning to the shift linkage while it's in the car so I do that at the same time.
