Love my TR but just don't have time to drive it... What do you think it will bring? I have listed it for the Mecum Harrisburg auction 26k miles recent service (engine out) 2 years ago, less than 1,000 miles Red/Tan, red carpets, black dash....rare and looks awesome tool kit/ manual/2 keys full unused tan luggage set (all 6 pieces) What should I expect?
Just bought an 88. Similar to you. 24k miles service done in September. New tyres, brakes, alternators...brown. The luggage itself goes from anywhere 2 to 5k. My car was selling price at 130k I got it for 100k from a Ferrari dealer. I say a 10-20k example gets 115 to 125 20-30k gets 100-110 40 more like 90z Just check on autotrader they sit and don't sell. Of course if you have a classiche one with 3k miles it's different. Id say u get 110k would be nice. Again mine sat from September till may with a full service done... Auctions can be a crap shoot. It could stall out at $80k or hit $140k. The problem is a small target audience unless you have advertised it heavily across multiple platforms.
Agree with Christian, I've seen some pretty significant gains and losses over the years, depends on the audience that day. Not many exotics in your auction, I suspect the majority of buyers will be muscle car and classic car hopefuls. We hope your car does well, it sure presents nicely in the photos. Best of luck!!
Mecums in my opinion is not a good venue to sell an Italian 80s classic. I've seen TRs go far below estimated prices at these auctions. As above posts have pointed out, its really more of a classic muscle crowd.
A 91 TR sold last year at Barrett Jackson for 67K. Now the same car is on the lot of a local dealer for 120K.
I saw this car at a car show last fall. Guy bought it threw a quick major at it and had been trying to flip it for a while. Not a car worthy of the current asking price IMHO(IIRC asking was $140k when I saw it) and that's why it's still hanging around.
Not surprised of the price... I honestly think that a well sorted out tr with less than 10k will go for max 130 10-20 for 110-115 20-30 for 100-110 30-40 90-95 40-50 80 More not sure. Just look on autotrader they sit and don't sell... The prices above are for a car with major done, comprehensive service history unlike some stuff I see sometimes...in other words a solid car. If h look st hagertys they say an average TR with some miles is valued at 88k so there u go... pristine 120k. Mine was to me in the middle and paid 100k for it. I think prices will stabilize now and maybe start slowly climbing up in a few years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well, Mine is in pretty great shape, service done 600 miles ago (2 years), black dash/red carpets, full luggage, If It doesn't sell, I would gladly keep it....guess we'll see...
Just out of curiosity, if it doesn't sell there, what's your total sunk cost? Travel, seller's fees, other expenses? Matt
I actually just ran mine yesterday. I have a 1991 black on crema with 42k miles and a service done at 40k miles. It was kind of last minute, I sold my 944 Turbo on Thursday and got all excited to run another car. The bidding was slow, and stalled at $70k, which would have meant $63k to me so I said NFW. Had the bid gone to $85k, I would have thought about it but probably passed. Here's a couple links, the lot number was S65.1 if you want to fast forward and watch it. They did have some nice things to say about it. https://www.facebook.com/mecumauction/videos/1584937228197292/ Before anyone tells me they don't "Do" facebook that's the only place it's on. https://www.mecum.com/lots/DN0717-303188/1991-ferrari-testarossa/ Good luck!
Mine has 26k miles, and Mecum has been marketing the car since I listed it in April, I am hoping that helps a little.
Great car - it hits all the button for the Testarossa market (engine out service, luggage, new tires) - I think it will pull strong money at the auction and someone will take it home
