Yes. The made very little of them but also depends on mileage, history conditions etc

Totally agree. If all factors are similar buy the red one (if you can only get one). :D

Those cars officially made it to China? I am happy to see the interest. This is new.

Are these cars allowed to be imported into China?

allowed until 2009, the year of which all used cars were banned from importing.

I can register a ford model T in China if I want to before that year.

yes, they were legally imported, when they were new back in the 90's I think. I just saw one of the registration papers of the white TR.

Never buy a car as an investment. Buy it to drive and enjoy. The days of the 300k 512tr are over.

Whilst I agree and I actually don't like ferraris being used as an investment I do think the TR could within 10 years reach 300k... probably better off investing in bitcoins though.

    ok.... different definition of investment.
Investment doens't mean I am not going to enjoy it.
Investment and driving it goes hand in hand.
    Reason:
    1. 20k miles, 50k miles, doesn't mean much here in China.
    2. The china ferrari market is a closed system, because you CANNOT import a used ferrari into the country, hence it has an economy of its own, it does not fluctuate with pricing changes of other countries. BUT, the trend is the same. such as the continued price hike of CS and 16m and 599GTO.

To demonstrate what I was saying: a run-of-the-mill 458 sells for more than US$350k here while a 360 sells for less than US$60k. A 16m with 30,000 miles sold for US$320K. Somebody asked if I would sell my CS with 14k miles for US400k, I declined and he raised it to US$450 before giving up. My CS is in bad shape, by the way, not a clean one, a few issues here and there.

hence the big incentive for investment. I put 6000 miles (10,000 km) on my CS in the last 2 years and its still an investment.

^ in this case its hedging, worst case scenario your car will hold its purchase price (book value) if bought correctly.

Agree 100% on the first part; I've never bothered as to price speculation. Buy want you want to enjoy, not what you want to flip.

the car is going nowhere, and the owner is a friend, who later said he now isn't interested in selling.

instead, he wants to swap the white 512TR with my challenge stradale....

    I am hesitating.....
