does anyone have any intel on this boxer? 1984 Ferrari BB512I BB512I color looks to be more of a marrone than a burgandy. No engine pics worrisome but maybe not an experienced person selling a car. It is in Canada so curious if Newman has crossed paths with it. Thanks-
I do know about the car and it was offered to me last week. Engine out service in Jan 2017 is the word. Clean interior, carfax says salvage title from a frontal mishap in the US when it was fairly young.
Good day All, This car (Chassis 51257) was chatted about a few months ago: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/boxers-tr-m/551460-1984-512bbi-chassis-51257-a.html The Starting bid then was $240K (no Bids were made) with a Buy It now of $275K. For the current auction the starting bid is now $180K USD with what appears to be no reserve. Cheers, Sam
So what is your guess on value as it sits? This being the 2nd sub-$200k list in the last month is it time for a shallow-pocket guy like me to start diving under couch cushions and watching the market?
I know the car and owner very well. I have driven the car a few times. PM for details. The owner has a bunch of different cars stashed all over the place. He has a delivery miles brand new mondial cab, and a brand new 2000 360. He bought both new and never drove them. Amongst all the junk, are indeed a few diamonds.
Not really. He just buys what he likes. Money is not an object for him anymore. He is slowly starting to sell things off. His countach is going to auction at the end of this year also.
Thanks for the comments. Prugna is it thanks for clarifying I thought it looked more red than marrone but hard from eBay photos. Salvage title doesn't worry me too much as it was a way for an insurance company to financially write off a good car with body damage without commitments. Sam sorry for repost and thanks for the original link to first thread. If it was structurally unsafe another story, but to some a salvage is the kiss of death. Newman or Howie - PM sent. Thanks Erik
Good day Erik, No apologies are needed about the repost! I simply mentioned the earlier thread in order to have some consolidation in the car's info and/or history. Cheers, Sam
Good day Paul, Interestingly the current and past ebay ads indicate that the title is clear and no mention of this within the car's description. The Salvage Title omission or mistake would certainly make some concerned... and possibly limit the car's market (some areas/countries will not allow importation of Salvaged branded cars). Cheers, Sam
The same seller just listed a Mondial 3.2 Cabriolet with 9000+ miles. Is that the delivery mile one you referenced or does he have another one?
It's very possible. I know the last time I saw that car, it was in one of his garages under a cover. Now that was a number of years ago, so he could have driven it around since then. All I know is when I saw it, it still had the plastic on the seats.
It must have gone for less because I saw it with 30 minutes to go and it had no bids and few viewings. So, Newman picked up a bargain!
I didn't buy it, I don't have enough time to change the oil on the one I have. Might run it through a jiffy lube lol
