Alex, The car is out of warranty. Dealers only sell complete new engines, rebuilding the motor is about 50% cheaper.

Pete, I was thinking the same thing. Interesting job though, not something you come across every day. Question: How was it determined that the engine has an internal crack, and not a heaf gasket problem, or perhaps a leaking heat-exchanger (oil/water) if it even has such a thing? Best, Jack.
Milk during an oil change was the first sign. We did a compression and leak down test and came up fine. The heat exchanger was sent out to be pressure tested. All came up fine.

Ugliest motor, that's for sure, but once everything is removed...what a gorgeous block! Great to see one of these torn down.
It's really was impressive to see the inside of the motor. Odd design but these things sure do make a ton of power!
Dan, how are the ports laid out. Do the intakes "cross over" to get to the "far" set of three cylinders. Sorry, I know that's imprecise, I am struggling to imagine the layout. Philip
